We still can't edit our posts?! 2014-02-05 15:32:02

Seriously? I've been on this site about 7 years now, and my god we've gotten a damned chat before we've been able to alter our forum posts... least most of the arsehole mods are gone. (Oldfag rant over)

so, what has changed on the forums, its been like 2 years since I've dared come on here.

since you're from 2007, I think you should have learned by now that you need to correct yourself.
I still make mistakes.
and a lot too.

My #1 flaw on the internet is that I don't proofread what I type.
And on websites like Newgrounds, when I click on the post button and realize I made a mistake, I'm always like "Oh shit!"

Seems like something that should come with supporter status.

Then that just makes it so that those who have more money get to have a stronger more flexible opinion.

Not a bad idea. But wouldn't people use it for covering themselves in a flamewar?

Being allowed to edit posts is the stupidest thing you could introduce to any forum bar none

the ability to edit posts would surely be abused in such a manner, supporters or no. given that idea in a heated debate, things would no doubt become a hassle.

A few Admins and well known users have left. That's been a big change.

Then they'd have their supporter status revoked without a refund.

You can edit your posts quite easily, you just need to edit your preferences first to alter your posts, go to <date expunged>

Takes about 3 minutes and then you can edit anything, but try to keep it away from the eyes of the admins.

Lol everyone always asks this.....if editable posts existed, it would make the mod teams job harder, and make it easier for someone to change their post so they're not breaking rules.

basically, it's a troll magnet. fuck an edit button dude, seriously

We did have an edit button, for a day.

Nope. And we will never have an edit button.
People would abuse the ever living shit out of it so it'd cause more harm than good.
Just be sure to re-read whatever post you made before you hit "Post".

Not being able to edit posts is one of Newground's forums' greatest features.

i would think being allowed to edit your post once may work, if everyone (members and moderators both), could view the previous post before it was edited. if the post was edited throw a tab beside the reply button to give the option to view it. in this way there possibly be less confusion.

I can understand why people would like to alter their post. I would like too as well at times but that's not how the site is.

I would think that if it did have an edit feature, people would change their post all the time and it could cause confusion.
I mean, look how many times people will reply to a thread that's over 5 years old without knowing its 5 years old.
If we can't even get that right, then I would hate to see what the edit feature would cause at times.

Perhaps if your post was only editable for 5 minutes before becoming permanent it would be better.

The best advice I can give is to just check your topic/post before you post it.
And if you make a mistake, no big deal. Just learn from it and try to avoid it in the future.
