I've made a news post for this project, so that details can be editted an ironed out. Have a look here, first, to see if anything's changed or your pic idea has already been taken!
===================================
If you were about last year, you may remember the Holiday Flood Collab:
Where Art meets Christmas!
It went really well.
So we've decided to have another go.
This collab will be based around an advent calendar, where a new door will open up on each day with a different Christmas related image behind each. For the Flash, each submission will be allotted a day in the calendar (1-24), which can only be opened up once that day has arrive/passed.
These submissions should be Holidays related, but I'd like people to give a rough idea on what the pic might be, just so that the calendar doesn't need to be filled with Santas. Anyways, you'll come up with a better submission if you spend a few more minutes coming up with an original idea.
Collaborative submissions are allowed! Two artists are free to work on a single submission.
Since this is a time dependent project, there will be some checkpoints, to make sure people are working on something. If people aren't, they may be booted from the project in favour of somebody who's more willing.
The first checkpoint will be on the 18th of November, and
the second is on the 30th of November. Hopefully your submission will be finished by then.
If you're not sure whether you'll deliver, don't join!
The idea for the final day (25th) is to make a collaborative piece, where all the artists in the project have produce a full-body caricature of themselves, to form a Holiday Greetings image.
All of this is still in the working stages, so if anyone has any ideas or anything, say them in this thread!
Otherwise if you want to join, reply with what theme you'd like to have for your pic.
For example:
I'd like to join, I want to draw a picture of Christmas tree.
Other ideas could be:
- Snowman/Snow
- Santa
- Presents
- Reindeer
- Nutcracker Soldier
- Turkey (or nut log)

actually the legs are.. not literally traced but slowly drawn while looking at the reference zoomed in, the rest is a mix of different references.

I think the issue I have more so is the line thickness on the Deer being so thin makes it not fit in with the rest of your bold line-work. Also thinner lines push things further back so it messes up the perspective.

I'd recommend drawing the trees individually. Obviously copy pasted elements when they're so prominent have a way of making a picture look lazy and boring.

haha so much critique more then I could wish for in my own thread. I guess all I can say is 'it was really put together quickly' not done at all.
But I do wanted to react on you Aigis: Youre probably right, it looks lazy, which i also am, BUT in this case isnt it forgivable or even good? Because 1. those trees are very similar in real life and 2 I do want to create some form of symmetrie. It makes a picture cleaner and easier to look at (I am not sure if this is really so). Since there will be more elements in this picture wont those copied trees give some rest?
I dont know if what I am saying makes any sense, but I am curious as to how people look at this. 'cause I actually planned to add a silhouette of a jumping deer, copy that, and put it at random spots, I can easily make more silhouettes, but my idea was to create some form of symmetry.
I have to create a christmas card in a play card style for school. Thought i could merge it with this. Theme; three kings
are there enough entries actually??
(presents are temporary)

That's some way of justifying your own laziness, saying that it's actually preferable for you to do less work.
You keep saying 'symmetry'. Why do you want to create 'symmetry'? What does it add to your piece?

So you think what I am saying is BS? honestly maybe it is, I am really asking.
I explained why I wanted symmetry. but maybe my reasons are not valid
My theme will be fantasy characters around the Christmas tree opening gifts. It would be hilarious.

Yes, but when they all have unique designs and are doing hilarious things, it makes it more original.

This is supposed to be a festive and fun activity to bring the community TOGETHER. People that can't play nice with others are not welcome. So just focus on your own drawing, or go away. Thank you.
