here are the lines, the axe looks much better without the color, any suggestions on how to improve the coloring?

Leave the axe in gray.
I think the uncolored hatched one looks better; maybe try using solid colors instead of celshading on top of the hatching?
thank you both for the feedback, I think I will go with j-qb's advice and leave it one solid color, maybe a brighter red...

I meant for the entire drawing, not just the axe.
hmm.. I figured If the whole thing is one solid color, it would look dull. I will paint it one solid color and post it so you see what I mean..not sure if one solid color for the whole thing would look good...

you could make the color more transparent to let the black lines show more

i get why your shading that line under his lip but maybe make it a bit lighter, it looks like hes drooling or something
I think you tend to limit your coloring options when you add line shading like that. They should work together, not compete. I am also of the opinion that his hand is turned too much.
I like what you did with the axe and the eyes, especially the axe, but that may be a bit too realistic than what I was going for. I will work on it some more and play around with it until I get something that I'm satisfied with, again, thanks everyone for the feedback, it really helps....

his shoes would be shaded too. His shadow should also be done in cross hatching, at least I think so
a concept for one of the greatest ideas I've ever had...the megaman-ish look was intentional

a neck would be nice, other then that i think it looks pretty good

Keep the hatching. It makes your art aesthetically beautiful by a factor of 15% more.
thanks fifty, I have been told this more than once, so I've decided to keep cross hatching pretty much all of my stuff now, thanks for the feedback dude.

That comment was directed towards this drawing of the Hulk. His head looks a bit too small relative to the rest of his body.

Similar to what everybody else has said, the head seems a bit lost on that body.
Possibly because when the arms are lifted up, the shoulder muscles and pectorals also rise, or that the neck muscles aren't exagerrated enough.
Here's a pic I found whilst looking for an example, plus a gallery of Arnie pics that I've only just remembered.
I'd just like to add that some of these pics on this page are great, and are a huge improvement. I'm loving the hatching on the alien head.

O: *has a heart-attack and slowly pulls himself up to the computer
DUDE, seriously I appreciate you giving me feedback. I totally see what you are saying about the muscles in the neck, I'm gonna fix that now. I really do need to start referencing my poses and muscles, I usually only reference how things look in my head.
