Did it look like a bowl of soup with noodles in the bottom and the meat floating on top? If so, that sounds suspiciously like Ramen to me. I would like to eat that stuff on a daily basis.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramen

The last time I was in Japan, we stayed in a capsule hotel one night and were turfed out at 10am. We waited outside the nearest place that did Ramen for over an hour before it opened so we could get some breakfast, haha.

Not only did the food suck they had about 6 big flat screen TVs on the wall AND I SHIT YOU NOT they were playing the first SAW movie. So while I'm trying to eat this rancid fish shit I'm watching some guy get his head crushed because he can't dig a key out of his eye in time... and that is why I'll stick to fish and chips, or burgers.

And that is why you don't eat sushimi when you're not in a good restaurant in Japan. Stick to their other dishes. And tell them to turn the TV off.

You mean to tell me I just offered you a free drink for an act of charity you don't even remember doing? God damn it. But yea, you did pay a taxi fare for a few of us. The trip back from the Kyoto Lounge. I insisted we walk it but Jawdyn looked disgusted by that proposal and after the length of the taxi ride, I can see why.

That's the stuff alright. I forgot about the noodles. I actually laugh to myself just thinking about the day a Scotsman tried a sushi bar. Never again.

Just decided to book them right away. I'm at the Printworks so I'll see you all on the Friday of the meet. What time exactly I'm getting there will depend on my work. I'll remind them that I have something planned on that day and may have the day off providing I still have my job by then.

I should really start asking around for people I can crash with. I'm getting a little bit of money from a recent commission (provided it goes through) but I need to be pretty tight with my spending til I get some jobs in.

I'm going to be even more jealous of my situation now, because you're trying stuff I'd like to try!

*rage*

Oh well, I guess there's always next time. Perhaps we can arrange the meet a little closer to some of my relatives and I'll see if they can lend me a spare room or a sofa... plus wifi, somewhere to charge my electronics and while they're at it, a cup of tea!

I don't ask for much. How far away is Bolton, anyway?

Had some sushi in Newcastle. Was pretty tasty once I ditched the chopsticks and used a fork.

Love their food but those Japanese peeps need to join the 21st century and get some proper cutlery. Not been to a Hungarian restaurant though, what kind of stuff do they serve?

You've never heard of Goulash? They do all sorts of other meat dishes as well. As with most foreign restaurants, it's best to go with someone who knows some of the dishes and can explain them to you. Otherwise, unless the menu or waiter can explain exactly what you're getting, it's a case of pays your money, takes your chances (which isn't always a bad thing).

Ah crap I forgot about booking a month early would have made it cheaper, £125 for double night atm will have to check on my cash to see if I can afford this month or not. Will get back in a day or two. Would love to do again if I don't fuck my housing over to much.

That would be awesome if you wanted to, then I will likely have no issue with going.

Well, they do plenty of other stuff, but it's all good. Luis and I will most likely share a cosy supper that I'll be paying for.

Luckily the price increase I've been hearing about isn't to big, at least between Crewe and Manchester anyway only around £9-£14 which is nice. Though I recall some longer journeys are always stupidly expensive, the 5% increase thing might be making those bad.

Also ty for addings Luis.

Yeah, I'm not sure any of your optimism will help him, given that he needs to fly from Canada before even thinking about trains or other transport.
