I had a similar problem. Yesterday morning I got timed out while in bed and for some reason I couldn't connect to any other servers, but that appears to be fixed now, after bouncing around a little everything is fine again.

It was, and it makes my life so much harder when I try to kill things just chillin outside my house.

So I've been spending the last two days trying to map out my entire region where I usually stay, I found 2 mob dungeons while I was at it too, pretty sweet. Though, I haven't gone out to actually find out whats in the chests of the spawners, I just know they're there.

Well, notch has been releasing patches like crazy for all the bug fixes, but unfortunately the just make more. Poor guy. Anyway, because of this the Bukkit team is working their asses off to make good server software, which of course, takes some time.

I know there will be another patch for minecraft coming out this week, so who knows how long it'll be before we actually see the stable bukkit build.

uh i dont know if that is the same for every one, though... the current world on your vanilla is crap, for 3 reasones: 1) the server is griefed seemingly daily, 2) realy bad terain, 3) everyone is off playing terraria.

Minecraft is such shit right now, that world is just a representation of the current code that it's running on.

Seriously, the VANILLA server corrupted another world with a NEW and DIFFERENT issue, so you'll be happy to know it's a new world again.
