Good to see myself passing two users. It took a while but I'm good in the top 50 now. I'm surprised I haven't been passed by anyone over the last five updates but there is someone coming up now. Anyway, for the ones above me, Sakurazukamori is slipping away but will still take a few months to pass. ~X~ is very closeby and I'll see myself ahead of him soon enough. Xiivi and pieoncar are tough ones and hardly show any signs of inactivity. altr is another one I'll be passing in a few months time, especially when he hasn't deposited in ages.

I moved a lot during childhood, and the language I was taking was never offered at the new school, so I ended up taking 2 years of Spanish, 2 years of Japanese, 3 years of Latin + 1 year of Greek, and then a semester of French in college for kicks.

If I do try to get fluent in something besides English, it'll probably be with Spanish, the one I started with way back at age 9/10 as an (abortive) 2nd language attempt.

There's a couple uber-German towns here in Texas (the two reddish spots visible in the map on that link you posted), but aside from going there to get some tasty food and beer every now and then... it's not like there's a ton of German speaking folks here.

Sorry, dude, within 20 years or so, way more than 50% of people here in Texas will speak Spanish (hopefully most still speaking English as well, of course), so Spanish it is.
