We've got a punk house here called the Buchon house. I saw talks of squatters, and I figured I should mention it, even if it's not really a squat. Most of them are former squatters or squatters passing by, though. We have tons of both here.

Sup everybody? Haven't gotten a chance to post here recently.

Anyway, I just discovered this.

I'm not sure how to find it on the album, but it's fucking awesome.

The song Something In The Way has a hidden track, if you put the CD on your PC you will see it says hidden track on there, when you finish Something In The Way wait about twenty minutes and you'll hear it, or just fast forward, it is on the Nevermind album though.

I was thinking of creating something like that, like... Me and some buddy's buy a house and just let whoever live there, if they give us like 10 bucks a week or something, cause we'd have a lot of people living there, so 10 bucks from each of them a week, well... Let's say we have 15 people living there, that's 150 dollars a week just for letting a person sleep in the hallway or bathroom, wherever they choose I guess.

I've basically always wanted to live that way, with a lot of people, and we'll just spend all day doing whatever the fuck we want, partying at night, sleeping at daytime, until I'm older and more mature which I am sure will happen, I want to do that, and then I can go to school and worry about getting my grade 12 or something.

Haha, so I looked up the top punk albums, and apparently one of Green Day's newer albums was on there, I was at my friends, and I can't find the website he showed me it on, I'll keep looking around, just thought I'd share that with you all.

I really just want to throw up now... That has to be the most sickening thing i've heard so far this week.

To be fair a lot of people don't consider The Clash a punk band either.

I own a Clash shirt though, they're the self proclaimed "Only Punk band that matters!"
What's more punk then that?!

Response to Punks of Newgrounds 2009-06-07 02:10:37

The Clash wrote about punk ideals, and had punk songs, but look at all there major hits.

Almost none were punk songs, though you could stretch it and call them a very diverse punk band.

Great band though.

Great band though.

So if you had the option to sell out and make millions of dollars, you wouldn't do it? Come on. The fact is that they did it for the money, just like any one of us would have too. I do like the fact that you mentioned that they we're actually punk though, instead of the normal response of "Rock The Casbah" is sooooo NOOOOT punk.

Which to be fair... it wasn't.

I would take the opportunity to, but I definitely wouldn't make music that I know my real fans enjoy, and that I enjoy making...

And that's exactly why I admire CRASS so much. They made tons of money (without a major label backing them) and they kept a reasonable bit for themselves and gave the rest to good causes. I think any credible punk band would do this. I know some may think it's a tall order, but seriously if you really mean all that stuff you're singing you should do what crass did. You see so many stupid hypocrits that this sort of thing is a breath of fresh air.

That would put me in a really hard position. I suppose it also shows which of the bands remained true to punk. If they continued playing the same style of music that their original fans enjoyed then I don't see anything wrong with that. If they turn into one of the bands who have a complete makeover and start producing shit music in order to widen their fan base and make more money then we will all know that they were never punk.

I suppose the two examples there would be The Sex Pistols and The Clash. When the Sex Pistols hit it big they never really changed all that much. They were still the same band that everyone liked/hated. The Clash did the opposite and started producing many crap songs (my opinion) that they felt would rake in more money. I recently bought "The Clash - The Singles" and half the stuff on there is absolute crap.

ThereĀ“s no problem with punk bands doing other types of songs..
I like the reggae songs of Bad Brains.

God, I fucking love Minor Threat.

Look at songs like White Riot, Should I Stay or Should I Go by the Clash, straight punk songs.

Than look at there other big hits, Rock the Casabah, Train in Vain, Straight to Hell, and Radio Clash.

Two rock/new wave songs, a reggae song, and a rap song, so they could be punk, but were just very diverse.

Just because those clash songs aren't punk doesn't mean they are bad.
But it does mean we don't discuss them here.

Just bought ANOTHER Nekromantix cd. Return of The Loving Dead. Gargoyles Over Copenhagen is probably the best song on the disc.
Anybody else here really into the Rockabilly genre? I guess it's not technically "Punk" but i've always considered it the sister genre.
