I have to admit that blastvortex has a solid point while you are making fun of him now. I think I will reconsider removing every moderator because all of them have their almighty API power. As a negative side effect for my own special credibility I would just accidentally appear on the number 1 spot, but I can assure you that this would be obviously not my true intention.
I'm not really sure what I'm stepping into here, but from the looks of things a poster is accusing an API mod of cheating, and you are taking their side, and threatening to remove all API mods because of a supposed advantage you think they have, without proof.
Now, I don't really care about being on the list. I haven't been burning myself out on obtaining medals like I had in the past. But the thing to understand is that before we became mods many of us were already at the top of the list, and were very active in discussing medals, exposing cheaters, and finding bugs and reporting them. That's how we got nominated for our positions.
After we became mods we discussed a lot of thing. We ironed out the rules. We talked about medal for games that were not unlocking for new users. We talked about what to do with cheaters. We also cleaned up the medal system, and removed a lot of medals.
No one likes to lose medals, especially when they put time and effort into the game to earn them. We mods lost a lot of medals, more than newer medal hunters will ever experince, but it had to be done to make the medal system fair to everyone.
We put a lot of time and effort to make sure that every one can obtain medals, so we slog through tough games, games that are badly programed, and games that are garbage. We don't remove medals because we can't get a medal, or because we don't like a game. We remove them because they either are broken, don't follow the rule, or the game's author does not fix them.
The only power mods have is to delete medals. We can't reduce points for them. In most instances we try to work with the game's author, telling them what is acceptable and what is not. We also let other mods know what we are doing, so we don't trip over each other in dealing with the same medal/s. For more complicated issue we discuss what to do about them among ourselves.
Many us mods are not as active as we use to be. We have lives of own own to deal with. We still remove medals when need be, but we also decided that we needed new blood. HerbieG is our newest mod. We recognized him because he was very passionate, not just in obtaining them, but also weeding out cheaters and broken, or unobtainable, medals. He has our full confidence. Unless there is solid proof that he has done something wrong, we will continue to support him over baseless gossip.
