When you unwrap, what resolution do you unwrap in? Also, as long as you don't really focus on the model with the camera, you can fake depth fairly easily with no complex geometry or even normal maps with a detailed texture.
The frontdoor for instance of O'Brien's (in my thread), has no normal map but does appear to have depth.
I'll admit being a texture artist is a job in itself though, hehe.
I render my templates at 1024x1024, although I know people who can make a girl wet with just a 512x512

I could use a bump map and give some depth that way and try and rough the model, but I don't think it would go far enough for what I want.
I guess I could just sacrifice a ton of polys and render time and just do some work in Zbrush.
I'll try it today and see hot it goes, (something tells me to expect a computer crash by the end of the day)
