Response to NG 2004 2003-12-26 23:27:32

Real quick: how about some added scoring buttons. You have the numbers, 0-5, but have some 'extra' options like a "WTF was that?" button. It would be helpful for the ones your not sure wether to blam it or give it a good score.

The only thing I'm waiting for is the server to stop getting so many errors then I'll be fine because this is the main site I go to everyday except for GameFaqs

"Some more whistle options, such as "Double submission", "resubmission", or "free blam point" (I know we can whistle some already, but the options aren't really appropriate)"
I agree with this, because the current options are kind of vague, with I think might deter first timers from using them.
I also think that Noob animators should have to prove themselves before being able to submit to the portal, because I am sick of blamming things. Maybe some sort of judging panel? But I'm not saying stop Noobs from submitting, because otherwise we wouldn't get any new content.
Finally I would like to see old submissions that drop below, say 0.50 to be removed.
Thanks for your time and have a Happy New Year!

Well Tom, newgrounds is perfect..
I have been coming here pretty much everday since january 1st last year (the day my cousin came over and showed me the site) and I just love it, the only thing I dislike is soemthing you cant change: Series taking so long to have a continuation..
aside from that the site is amazing man! see you later

A lot of people posted a bunch of great ideas. Mostly, all that stuff about the 0-10 voting scale makes a lot of sense (more space in between what you think the flash deserves, and, the review scale is from 0-10 too). Also it would be awesome if you (Tom) did more of you own, original flash. After all, isn't that what started NG? And yeah, get rid of pop-ups and such, I dun get bothered by them all that much (Mozilla Firebird blocks 'em(, but pop-ups in general are just annoyances. And if you wanna make membership with some extra priviliges, something you haveta pay for..that'll just kinda suck...I mean, if its for the greater good of NG, sure I guess, but...paying membership..?

Response to NG 2004 2003-12-27 00:27:06

multi player games

Response to NG 2004 2003-12-27 00:27:27

a newground page for younger newground veiwers sometimes there is a flash or two for my younger daughter who loves your site by the way but her dad (the preacher) gets mad when she watches some of the other flashes a lot of your viewers are under the age of 16 something to thing to think about

Response to NG 2004 2003-12-27 00:30:14

delete all flash entries under the score of 2.5 just cuz no one looks at them.

Myself, as well as others would like to have the portal back to the way it used to be. I hate having to wait for a long time before i can vote 0 on crappy flash. If the portal went back to the way it used to be, crappy flash could be blammed quicker and good flash could pass quicker so there would be more room for oncoming flash.
THE END

Yah right! WOW! No more popups? AWW, Tom, if u can do that, you'd make me, and ALL of the other people on NG very happy. But dont u get payed for puttin them on? Im hoping very much 4 that. And, well, since there isnt much more i'd like tosee from Newgrounds, ill tell u a bit of suggestions. Hmm, lets see, commercials! On TV! Thats would be kewl. It can advertize NG with a big trailer thingy! With featured movies and games, and music! That would be kewl!(but expensive). More tutorials for new people to flash, including action script, and everything. The trouble im having is costom cursor. You make it so clear, I try other tutorials, but its confuzingo! Your tweening tutorial was very entertaining and very clear to understand.
Well, thats all my suggestions, please reply, Blaskowics3.

call me crazy but I wanna see more porn ads and pop ups

Response to NG 2004 2003-12-27 00:46:40

here is some ideas

1. make more neat user stuff
2. make a picture portal were we can submit drawn pictures
3. buddy list for staying in touch with other users
4. show more than 50 of the newest flashes in the portal instead of clicking on a link
5. same goes for the best of the best

Response to NG 2004 2003-12-27 00:49:31

I think that NG needs to have less pop up ads. I would also like to see an update in the "Learn Flash" section. There needs to be one for each version of Flash. Plus, I think that the front page submissions should be updated automatically by vote scores. Oh and one more thing. I think that you should be able to see a movies score before it passes judgement so you don't have to waste time going to a page and finding out it is a lame ass film. That's it. Later.

i think that you should have more user friendly stuff not by the content but the games and stuff should be easyer to load

Response to NG 2004 2003-12-27 00:54:53

OK, here we go;

--less ads (well, DUH)
--less porno ads (EVERY BANNER I SEE IS FOR ONE OF THEM!)
--PICO 2! <echo> <echo>
--More stuff for user profiles

That's about it,

A HTML Aid button that made you right in that cool red color you used.

Metal Hell | Industrial Crew | The Grindcore Gore Pit

Theirs only ONE "Hell Hammer", and it isn't a band... It's a drummer.

1) More levels.
2) Artwork Portal.
3) Comic forum.
4) More message icons.

That's pretty much all I'd like to see in the year 2004 on Newgrounds.

Response to NG 2004 2003-12-27 01:18:02

1. I would love a section with open sorce (.fla) files.
2. Art portal sounds good.
3. Tutorial section.

Apart from that and popups newgrounds is perfect.

how about people with 0 flash movies uploaded either have to get twice as much exp to level or have no voting power at all, because atm they are the ones who vote low just for blam points

~~~~~~~~~The doctor is in~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~Pay attention, this is a well thought out post~~~~~~~~~

Ok I've read everybody's ideas and I have compiled a list of what i think should be on here. If I left yours out, sorry, I probably just forgot, I am tired. Fuck off.

1.Make the whistle less vague (add options such ass "resubmission, Free Blam, etc.
2. Add more numbers to the vote (1-10) Or maybe even add something along the lines of "Blam but don't give up" Which would be shown to the author to boost his/her moral.
3. I think you should add a new interface, something for a new year. Nothing TOO new. Just something to say "Hey it's a new year!" But I just enjoy change
4. Add some cool user option, instant messenger, etc.
5. Personally i think you should have a moderated chat room (I could offer my services, especially in summer) This would bring a lot more people, and offer another place to display an ad.
6. Just a suggestion but you could give us a demo of the Alien Hominid on console couldn't ya? hehe
7. Yes, I must admit even I am mad at you for taking so long on Pico2, but I understand, and being the (possibly only one here) sensible guy I am. Forgive you Tom Fulp.
8. Make a 56k version of the site (I have broadband, but stated as before I understand other people...ok it wasn't stated before shut up) But some people just have slow connections. I remember when I had 56k, I could barely get on this site.
9. Add emotions to the message body of the posts on BBS.
10. And finally I think you should update the site, as in the toons/games/series/etc sections
Thank you for your time everybody, especially Tom.
~D

there needs to be 2 sections to the portal.. a ng mainstream portal.. and a ng underground portal.

Mainstream is for the established authors.. and established as in have good submissions.. not just more than 3 whatever the number is, and underground is for the new people. Mainstream could also contain the professional flash, like happy tree friends.

There should also be a ng party 2 in 2004.

"Wanted Ads Section"
-------------------------------------------------------
I think it could be a good idea to create some sort of wanted ads section; companies/individuals who want to hire Flash talent can come here and get ads posted. Then if any individuals are looking for a freelance type job related to Flash animating/programming/etc, they can go to that page and look for one. Or an animator/programmer can list themselves there if they're looking for a quick job. Kinda like those huge job search sites, but entirely limited to work with Flash.

Just something that I think about whenever I see BBS posts where someone's looking for an animator/actionscripter.

Response to NG 2004 2003-12-27 01:39:54

I've thought of another idea.

You know they have this thing with the experience points. You know, like:

Exp. Points: insert # here / insert # here

There should be one of those for whistle points.

Well, Tom, I've been a fan of NG for years. When Pokemon was a hot topic, I was eight years old, and I loved all the 'Assassin' games you had for everything happening currently. Then I moved on to find out; this isn't only a game website, it's a movie website. (Computer-using eight year-olds = thick)

Now I'm 13 years old, and I love this website layout. I'll mention a few little possible changes, some might have been already posted though.

-A 56K layout for patient NG fans that can't afford a better modem.
-An Add/Delete button for authors of movies/music... just in case you created something, sent it in, and are ashamed of it.
-A 0-10 voting system would add a more complex voting system, but provide more accurate data for movie stats.
-Flash movie size limits to be rounded up to 10 MB.
-An author, when submitting a movie, can choose to make it a series (let them name the series, state how many parts will there be, and when they will come out, and if the next part doesn't come out in time for the deadline, send them e-mail notification that the series page will be deleted unless they respond with an answer like 'it will be out in two weeks')
-Organize your website database a bit more. I mean... it's all a jumble.
-The portal look is great, but it'd be absolutely awesome if - similarly to Launch.com - each account had a personal player (a Flash generated window appears only showing favorite movies of the user and movies that match their interests. I know it's gonna be hard, but that's an absolutely cool idea. But I love the layout the way it is now, anyway. So if you can't do it, don't bother trying.

Thank you for reading... I realize my last two or three requests are absolutely not probable or do-able. So no one please reply to me as an 'asshole.' Quite a few NewGrounders are really overreacting about simple things... AH! That's an idea, a spam blocker in reviews. Fu-*Bleep*

Thanks

I think an easier way to view older submissions would be cool without having to use the search bar. Also, posting of thumbnails with flash animations would be cool, so we can see a brief thing on what the movie looks like without loading a 5 meg stick movie. deviantart.com has an awsome browsing system that i think could work in a similar fashion at NG.
