A piece I've worked on for 2 months. I played this mp3 at a sort of recital.Reviews.

"Awesome"

date: June 2, 2006

Very awesome. Starts out so creepy, and the solo (is that an oboe?) fits so well and just sets the mood. I really love the beginning.

I especially like the trumpet part around the middle with the timpani, it was an excellent diversion from the rest of the song as it was very different. I love how the mood retained throughout the entire song, even when more instruments came in.

The only part I didn't really like, was the end, I felt it was TOO abrupt. Normally I don't mind endings like that but I felt it was really just too short. That's just an opinion, if you intended it to create an effect, it really worked.

Aside from that I felt this song was awesome...Very depressing, at least to me. Now I'm no expert critic, but I think this was an excellent job.

Author's Response:

Thanks. Even such a long time after it was posted, reading that makes me glad. The solo is English horn, which is a relative of oboe.

I did intend the ending to be a bit abrupt, to lead more perfectly into the second movement, which I still haven't written. On listening to it, I've discovered the player sometimes cuts off the mp3 before the actual ending.

Thanks for your compliments! :)
