Hello once again, NG! This is the sixteenth of 26 submissions (or so) that I'll upload this year for a project entitled Project 26: Submission a Week. This project is in collaboration with NG user Chocosoda (check him out!) Each other week in 2011, I'll upload a musical piece for a total of 26.

It's June, and that means it's catchup month. Choco and I will spend this month catching up. Expect some FFVI goodness and some other stuff. July is FFIV month, and from there we'll break into some non-FF stuff until October for the original Final Fantasy. You'll get quite the treat November and December. :D

This time it's mostly "Who Are You?" from Final Fantasy VII. There are other themes loosely tied into this piece, making it somewhat of a medley -- including "Who Am I?", "Theme of Final Fantasy VII", "Tifa's Theme", "Aerith's Theme", "Barret's Theme" and "The Prelude" -- but the thing you'll notice the most is the vocal blurbs recorded by Choco.

Whoa. That's freaky.

I love all your works, Josh and Choco, but this time, I think the vocals are what primarily make the song attain its essence. This gives it the feeling it was meant to have. The lyrics, being lines from the game, are creepily satisfying, as well as the music to go with it.

Great job, you two. And I can hear the other songs within the song! That's an excellent touch! I can't wait to hear the next one you guys put out, because this is just too awesome.

Thanks, Shawn! Originally, this was just going to be a mashup of "Who Are You?" and "Who Am I?", but I didn't work on the two parts in the same way, so the mash didn't exactly... well, it didn't sound coherent, that's for sure.

Anyway, this ended up being the better of the two. I still have the "Who Am I?" track that I'll release as a WIP sometime, if anyone's interested.

Sounds great

Pretty nice remix of a track from Final Fantasy VII dude. Your project sounds like it has gone well so far as well so you have that to go on too. This piece kind of evokes sadness I think. The only think that should be removed is the clicking sound as it is a bit annoying.

The vocals were pretty cool when they do come on here. the guitar sounded great and solid. The drums were smooth and calm here so great work on that. The bass line kind of goes a bit loud but that goes well I think since it makes the piece a bit more creepy.

Loved how the vocals were all direct creepy remakes of lines from the game, cool!

Overall, great remix!

Thanks! Sadness, discomfort, and confusion were the key emotions we tried to evoke this time around, to keep it true to the original. Though the fret-clicks are a touch on the annoying side, I like their percussive addition to the mix overall. Plus, their being in the mix is much like having mosquitoes surrounding you in a swamp -- annoying, yes, but a key symbol of your environment and a factor in your disorientation.

Keep in mind, only half the bass sound is that synth bass tone. The other half is the feedback (and heavily distorted feedback, at that).
