~K4P~ 35 - piano improvisation

!!!!!WARNING!!!!!
this recording is a improvisation only... if the amount of mistakes makes it too bad to listen for you then i can fully understand it... but there is no need to place a review if your only going to point out the million bad things in it, so low score reviews are not welcome unless you point out some good points too!!!

no practicing at all, no metronome to get the speed right, didnt take the time to think about the notes to play and i still totally suck at playing the piano (back when i made this i had my piano for only 1 month and a few days, now i have a piano for 2 months so i still suck though :P)
the recording didnt get fully edited either...
the only edits i made: cut of 2x a few seconds of silence that lasted way too long and i cut of 2 minutes of crap right before the ending (i didnt get anything nice for 2 minutes, the last 30 seconds were not bad though so i removed only those 2 minutes)
thats all i did on the project, all othe mistakes are kept in the project... so lots of bad notes, boring parts and many mistakes are to be aspected

i am thinking to rewrite this improvisation into a real song, but it would take a hell lot of time
and relistening makes me really calm again, just like the time i wrote this, even though i had a lot of worries on my mind, i found some calmness which inspired this... i hope it calms you too

overall most wont like this, but in my opinion it has some nice parts too and the overall sound is very calming
what are the things you like in it? (only pointing out the bad things aint appreciated at all)

hope to make a real song out of this later (if i can do that, then there will also be sheets available)
greets, Musical Memoirs

-----------

should i upload more of these crappy improvisations???
i dont have a lot of time to write songs lately, but my piano practice doesnt stop no matter how less time i got left... while practicing some already existing pieces it can happen that i suddenly want to improvise something (which costs not much time anyway) and since i record most of my improvisations i have some reasonable recordings already that i could upload... but i dont think you guys are waiting to hear every crappy thing i make...

so please tell me!!!
should i upload more improvisations or shall i wait till i got some bigger projects?
if i upload some of my improvisations then i stay active no matter what... if i wait for bigger projects then it can take a while longer till there are some new songs again)

Im not good

in reviewing piano songs but i will try my best.

the first notes from 00:00 - 00:30/35 have a great emotional feeling K4P
and i can hear you CAN compose something really good.
but i think just like toler said, youll need lessons to fully bring the story you have, to our minds and hearts, very deeply.

it just feels like you havent really practise this, or study it..
[i know that isnt the truth] but still, a little stiffy from time to time.

other then that, i can listen to this several times, nothing really wrong with it tbh.

so youll get my vote, fav and download to send it to my Ipod.

Musical-Memoirs responds:

the first 30 seconds went surprisingly well, in those 30 seconds i only made one very small mistake too, the intro is really my favorite part
and im really working hard to make myself better so that i can more easily let my feeling flow into the notes, i only just started, but now im a lot better then when i played this already

and the thing is, after choosing the scale to play in... i just simply played and recorded the first try
this is the first and only time i played it, so i didnt practice this piece at all
improvising is just playing out of the blue without giving yourself enough time to think about it
if i had practiced then there would be almost no mistakes, but i first want to rewrite the melody before that, taking the good parts and rewrite the bad ones, but i havent had really the time for it though

thanks!!!

very well done

only complaint i have is when it was really flowing you just seemed to stop
i know a few professional piano players and have listened to them many times your doing exceptionally well considering the little credit you give yourself. the off key notes are there but when you step back (figuratively) and listen to the whole piece there is alot of talet in it with a little work on the fluidity and just a little practice you will become a very good piano player no matter what the expectations are, from others and from yourself.

one last thing, music takes soul. think about that and tell how much soul you think you must have to create a piece sa good as this right away i look forward to your new pieces everyday

With full support

Musical-Memoirs responds:

every time i started thinking of the next part to play or noticed i made a mistake and some other reasons i made some small breaks... those breaks ruined it as a song, have it flow nicely is maybe more important then the right notes...

and i dont believe in the existence of a soul, but i do understand what you mean, i see it more as putting my feelings directly into the music
every time i listen to this i can fully re-feel the feelings its based on, a slight fear and sadness that im trying to fight against with hope while trying to regain my calm

and i do like this piece too and really believe it has potential... but its just a fact that giving the song the right meaning is my only true accomplishment (thats the most important thing for me though) because the tempo is in some parts really screwed up, didnt hold the right rithm (in same parts it strengthens the feelings by that though) many bad notes, not a complicated song and in a simple scale
so if you expect to find something great then it is a big disappointment, but if the feelings a song represent is more important to you then it can still be a beautiful song to listen to even though its simple with a lot of mistakes
if i didnt like it enough then i wouldnt have uploaded it either
apparently you are one of the people who find the same thing the base of music, the feelings/soul of the artist

and i even believe i am going to be a great musician too (probebly wont make it to the big public though and i wont be a professional for a long time...)
i have a lot of motivation and i notice my impovement each time, my piano teacher is frequently surprised by what i can play already too (only need to practice the basics instead of songs more)
i am not going to make a living by making music, i have something better, i live for my music :P

with full appreciation of your support!

fairly well

if you hadn't stated that you only had your piano for a month when you made this, you would've got a 5 or 6, depending on my mood. You really didn't screw up much until you got to the 2/5 part of the piece. I'm assuming that you made this yourself, and I know that is very hard to do, because everything has to be related to the key that you are in. Unfortunately god didn't give me the best ears and I cannot recognize the key very well offhand.I've taken piano for 9 years now (keep in mind that the years were for teaching piano and a growing mind and boy), and I can tell you definitly have potential. You were foing at a good pace for what you wanted, but at some points and stretches you sounded a little stiff, so if you ever got in the mood and have some spare change, I would suggest some hand exersices and techniques from Johanne Sebastian Bach (be careful because there are a few Bachs) and I would advise Czerny. Czerny is more progressive in his works, but Bach is alot more enjoyable, since he made some of his works for his children to play, but are still very good exersice.........but you might be one of those people who will look at this and just say "I don't want to be a proffessional, I just like to play." These are just suggestions to help you.....ah well. I think I've rambled enough to talk you into the next state over...or country, wherever you live.....even though state does mean country.....united states of America.....

Musical-Memoirs responds:

thanks a lot for the great review!!! really!!!
for having someone who plays piano saying that i have potential makes me really motivated

its a 100% made by me, my piano teacher havent even heard this piece yet
beyond that point i made much more mistakes indeed, the first notes went really surprisingly well :P and it wasnt hard at that moment, all notes i played came by so logical when i simply played, only trying the same song again is not that easy, i dont even recall the scale again either (and i didnt fully stay in the same scale i believe)... and i need to be in the right mood, have a lot of inspiration and some luck to do a successful improvisation again, until now this is my only success

Johanne Sebastian Bach has some nice songs, i only know a very few at the moment so the simplest song of him i heard is 'jesu, joy of mans desiring' which im trying to play already because i like it so much, its quite hard at my current level though but my piano teacher was amazed that in such short time i had been able to make a real start at a piece like that again, its way further then my piano book tells me i am and i seem to learn faster then most of his other piano students, guess im just more motivated to learn to play though
i sounds really interesting to look for some more songs from bach (and there are indeed a few bachs), guess ill look up some more from him soon

Czerny is a unknown name for me though, i am going to check him out too to check if i might want to play (or just simply listen to) his songs too

and i dont NEED to become a proffecional, im happy as long as i can express my feelings through music... but it would be very nice if i become good at making music... after all there are a lot of goals that would be fun to reach with music... and once im good at the piano i might go play cello, so if i hurry up a little i can move on to the next instrument and do some more with music again :P

^_^

Cant wait to hear the piano version of tetris on speed :P

On a VERY HIGH speed :P

You make me want to buy a piano :( keep practising :D

Nax~

Musical-Memoirs responds:

tetris, thats one hell of a hard piece to play i think (not to mention on a VERY HIGH speed) xD
for me its one of my best decisions to buy a piano, you do like pianos a lot, so it is something you could seriously think about...
only it aint cheap and consumes a lot of time (but if you really think you want one then my only advice is not to buy a keyboard but a digital piano, they play a lot different... and i have heard a lot of people wanting to play the piano and buy a keyboard instead because they are cheaper and then soon enough they get bored and stop playing)
