Yep, a brand new version of that crappy song I submitted. I changed converter along the way, so the sound leveled up into something completely different.

The song itself was made for my my music class, and took about 2 days of work to do. I'm pretty proud of the result, espetially the piano solo.

*****Reviews, good or bad, would be very apreciated*****

Hope you enjoy!

Great for a flash game loop!

Seems like a funny little diddy that I would hear at a piano bar back in the old west. This isn't a type of song that I would listen to in my spare time, but it is great for a game such as that one Cuboy game where he goes back in time and hangs out in the.. old west. I think you could have worked on the looping for this, as it would make a great loop.

It really does show proper knowledge of music composition, as you had a good selection of instruments with well done tunes and a good mix of leads and background to really keep the song going. You should try participating in this years game jams coming up, where teams of 5 get together and make a game / animation. You would be good for music.

For what this song is, it would be great for a flash game, but just not something I would find myself listening to in my spare time unless it was backed up with some sort of clever musical lyrics.

Thanks for the review, you're a great aquisition for the RRC!

I thought once of joining the game jams, but I didn't think I had the skills necessary to do so (also, I forgot :/)! Thanks for the tip, I'll probably do it!

As for the song itself, It's kind of related to ragtime (the genre you're speaking of), with the uppity feel and such, but it's actually Dixieland Jazz. Still, I'd agree to say it would probably still fit within that kind of flash!

Thanks for the compliments, it's well appreciated!

Interesting... but not Jazz

With the way that this song has so much form and sounds pre-written, I'd personally say that it wasn't Jazz. From what I've heard, Jazz is the only type of music that you compose as you play through it, there and then. This sounds more like something that you might even dance a Charleston to, which is a completely different piece of music.

Nice, quirky and a very enjoyable listen, but I'd have considered lengthening this piece, combined with making it loop better, since there was an issue with how it pauses for a fraction of a second at the end. Curing that would certainly help.

The balance of the instruments is positive and you've certainly got a good ear for the sounds, but more variation and more in the way of song length would certainly help you here.

Thanks for the review, thought I have to tell you you didn't do your homework, because this most certainely is Jazz!

It's from the archaic branch, though, so I guess there's place for confusion. It's called Dixieland Jazz, and it's what succeeded to ragtime in some way, and it's what lead to Jazz.

You should REALLY learn a bit about Jazz, because my friend got insulted quite a bit by your review stating that his song isn't Jazz while it's very clear you have no idea you have no clue as to what it is yourself. Just thought I'd point that out, it would be a good thing you'd check out a bit of it, it's good for your health!

As for the rest of the review, it's quite evident I'd have to lengthen it up, but you still kind of stated a point by saying part of the song comes from improvisation over a chord progression. Most of the time, it can even become longer than the theme itself! But of course, it isn't really called impro when I write it down, and I'm not that good writing solos for saxes and clarinets!

And finally, Variation... I wasn't really planing on making this a full-fledged song, it was supposed to simply be a pattern for dixie, but I wanted to post it here, so I repeated the theme and added a piano impro to make it sound otherwise.

Thanks for the review!

Nice song

This song is pretty cool, it made me snap my fingers along to the beat. The song also creates a very happy atmosphere. It put me in a good mood.

The ending is a bit cut off, though. Propably an error that occured during the uploading process, but it still prevents me from giving this song a 10. :(

I know, you're the first person to notice! It's actually a lag that occures during the conversion each time I use the converter I used.

Glad you enjoyed the song!

Pretty good

Really reminds me of Sonic Pinball Party since that seemed to be the kind of music played for a majority of the pinball tables. Kind of makes me think of casinos as well which is what you may have been aiming for I guess. Lastly it reminds me of those incredibly old black and white text movies where something would happen then a box of text would appear afterwards.

The trumpet and other instruments playing are really jazzy as the genre applies and the drum rhythm is more simplistic than most I have heard as well. Really like the piano playing as well, sounds a bit comical yet really good at the same time.

Overall, this is a pretty good song, very nice work.

Good

Parts of this almost remind me of a really old western comedy movie with no sound or something. I'll agree that this song really is a tad overwhelming. Extremely creative for sure.

As far as practicality goes, I really can't see myself ever listening to this in my house or in the car....but it would be an AWESOME candidate for flash movies/games.

The melodies are intricate and well thought out. The bass line almost reminds me of Banjo Kazooie from N64. I'm sure that wasn't intended, just fyi, lol. All the instruments blend together extremely well.

The song does seem to lack a certain depth I can't quite put my finger on though. As if there's a fullness to it missing...but maybe that's the sound you were going for.

Overall a good well produced track. Keep up the great work.

Lol, you're right to think of silent movies when you hear this, because it does kind of sound like ragtome, the style usually used.

Can't blame you for not wanting to listen to this in your car, it does get annoying after a while, thought i listen to almost ALL my songs when I take the city bus to get to school...

As for the base line, I've never really played banjo Kazooie, thought I kind of get the feel.

As for the overall depth, I think what's lacking is mid-range filling. Everything's either really loud and high-level, or low-leveled, but nothing stands out in the middle, since the only thing in the middle is the honky-tonk, wich is really too soft.

Anyways, thanks again for the review!
