Lighthouse song started out as a slow, mellow song, but quickly grew and evolved into a not so slow, not so mellow 8 minute track. I've been working on this for quite a while, and I'm at the point where I just want to stand back and leave it be for a while. There's probably a few loudness issues here and there or all the way through. Either turn it down or take it like a man. ;D
I might adjust things later, as this song will be on an album I'm working on at the moment, called Sidechained Melody. 5 songs finished so far, another 4 in the works, overall, over 30 minutes of music so far.

Thanks for listening and voting and reviewing.

ZENON

"Hey, a full song!"

by: ZENON

It was the first song on your list that was a full song, and whaddaya know, it's an 8 minute monster. I'm down with long songs, and I know how good it feels to write a song that long :)

The introduction came on a little slow, and I think maybe an introduction of a filler percussion instead of just the kick drum would have worked a little better. You know, don't be afraid to use cool sounding hi-hats and misc. percussion. Sometimes when you do that you can write melodic parts in the song that follow the rhythm of the other percussion. It's a cool idea to play around, check it out.

The song's been playing for a while now and I think that arpeggio could have used a little bit more expansion. Just even adding some higher notes in the arpeggio at the end of an 4 or 8 bar cycle really does help the song sound a little more climactic.

Regardless, I'm quite stoned and this song is absolutely great to have in the background so no complaints there, I WOULD listen to this song in my own time.

So there's a few ideas for ya! Keep it easy;

"Incredible."

Very surreal. The chord progression in the beginning is fantastic, and it has a great suspenseful buildup into a dramatic, satisfying climax. There's absolutely nothing negative I can say about this song that would be the truth, except maybe a bit of repetition at the beginning, but other than that, I've got no qualms. Great job!

"Great melody"

date: May 17, 2009

I really enjoyed this. This style of music is typically out of the genre's I normally review in, but this songs progression and melody was really enjoyable, so kudos to you for getting me to listen to a style of music I don't usually listen to ;).

My only criticism is that the sidechained compression on the kick in a few areas is so heavy I sometimes found it distracting. I know this "pump" is a sought after sound in a lot of trance / d&b music so this is just my own personal perference coming in to play.

Regards,
Daniel

"Yay"

date: May 12, 2009

Hello again.
This new song started off impressively with sone very cool effects, but then it lost its magic and it started getting repetitive.
Some effects here and there made it intresting but you shoul put more of them in such a long track.
By the way, l love your author comments, they rock!
