Metal, Rock - General Rock

This is probably the first song i've ever used standard tuning in ;). It's an Acoustic / Heavy Rock medley, and I experimented with layering multiple instruments this time around, as well as competing ascending/descending solos near the end.

Hope you guys dig it :).

I like the dynamics in this one. I am glad to see a submission that belongs in the 4/5 's in votes.

Rottenbeard responds:

Thanks for the feedback. The dynamics you speak of are likely due to the drum loops which were not of my doing, but I appreciate the positive remark nonetheless.

Pretty Good

i like the acoustic guitar part but the drums were a bit overpowering at parts

Rottenbeard responds:

Hi Lordofdead.
Yeah the drumming isnt mixed the best in the song, and it also lacks variation in the playing (basically the same loops over and over). I was still new at working with VST's and DAW's at the time, some of the newer rock stuff that i'm going to be upping to NG soon will showcase a much improved drum backing in the sense of overall mix sitting as well as variation (often i'll use live playing instead of loops now, etc.). I've improved a lot since this song in the sense of mixing the crashes and rides, and improved compression to get the drums to sound more like they're in the room with the other instruments :).

Oddly enough, this is a very old song done when I was still very new to FL Studio (second song ever upped to NG, if you really wanna hear bad drums, listen to "hostilies exist" haha), with a poor mix and poor drumming yet it remains my most popular song to date, and is usually within the top 20 under general rock. I still can't understand why! Anyways, thanks for the feedback, it is appreciated.

Sweet drums in this and nice guitar too! It's definitely listenable.

Rottenbeard responds:

Thanks for the feedback. I wish I could make a claim on the drums but they were built from loops using Addictive Drums so no credit really on my part! Nonetheless I appreciate the feedback!
