This originally was going to be another song in the Colour of Music series, "Last Days of Summer" but the second half of this didn't fit with the first half at all. This is the first part of the song. I think the main riff sounds really cool, especially with the string theory echo thing it's got going on. It's a short song, but it's quite repetitive, there's barely any motivic development in here, but it's just a filler song and I'm not too concerned, although I probably will go back over it and smooth it over if I feel it needs it.

Enjoy.

"Great"

Great song, a nice build up and at 1 minute the piano kicks and creates the great dance groove the song needed, nearly perfect in my humble opinion, just felt like the intro should've been shorter and the mainbody longer, but that's only a slight on this wonderful piece, great job

"Very Nice"

date: February 24, 2008

This has a very nice sound to it all the way through the track, which is very good, it is very easy to listen to and everything. I can't hear any problems with it, although in some parts you might say it's a little to repetertive it seems to work because it seems to flow well all the way through.

The intro might be a little too long though but other than that, I think this is really very good and the ending is also very good. Doesn't really loop too well but that's okay since I'm guessing it wasn't intended to. So very good :)

"Good intro, sustained throughout"

I like this tune, though the intro may have sounded like running on a little too long. It worked nicely, witht he gradual addition of further instruments and around halfway, when you brought in the piano, I thought the tune was at its very best.

I'd suggest that at about the 1.5 miute marker, you stop the backing track for a few seconds and let one repeat of the piano circle through, for effect. It leaves a greater impression of the piano in the listener's mind, which always helps to endear the track with people.

It's almost got the tempo for a racing game, similar to Wipeout. The only thing that you're really lacking for a game like that is the bass beat, which while present in your submission is quite subdued.

"pretty good, pretty good.."

date: February 24, 2008

Enjoyable track here. I like the echoing plucked sounds, swelling bassy pads (some sort of filter would be great on them), and the high whistle sounds. it's pretty fresh for the opening of a track. the drums work their way in quite well, so you're doing a pretty great job of sequencing. The piano interlude (of the interlude) is nice and I like echo effect on them. That trancey synth is a really cool fit too. so composition is pretty damn nice.

drums samples = ew. well, maybe I'm being too critical of this because I've suggested different samples than the FPC and FL stock ones in my last 3 or 4 reviews too. Dance kicks could use more subbass, make the clap/snare a bit louder and put some reverb on it-my main beef is with the hi hat. it also wouldn't be a bad idea to include some more variation in this department too, for instance splitting one of the hi hat hits into sixteenths and filling in more bass kicks.

I would say this never really built up into something epic and active, but its just an interlude. Well done WB, good luck on the CTSG collab :)

Thanks for the criticisms, I'll try and fix up the drums with my future works.

Yeah, good luck to you, too, you've still got a few spots that need filling, so good luck with that.

"Suited perfectly for a game."

date: February 23, 2008

- Good stuff -
Flowed ver well at the beginning and did the same throughout. THere was godd panned and slurred notes all the way through and enough to keep me listening for about 4 or 5 times. It really sounded like some kind of interlude. Could easily be turned in to some sort of game song.

- Bad stuff and improvments -
Was a bit too dull on the looping, could of have more brightening up.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review. Yeah, it's fairly simple, and it doesn't have a lot happening other than the main parts. It wasn't made to loop, so I'm not really concerned about that, I'm working on some real VG loops for a game soon, so the looping in those will be a lot better.
Thanks.
