This will hopefully be the last song I ever make in garage band. I just upgraded to Reason, so hopefully I'll never have to utilize this crap program any more. I'm sick of it and I'm at a lack of creativity in it. There's nothing more I can do with it.

With that off of my chest, I'd like to point out that this is an original contest entry for the Pillars of Pico mac in the audio forum. Go check it out. Now, before you leave a review, keep the following in mind...

-This song was made in garage band, which is a really shitty program. Don't tell me that I need to work on equalizing so and so, or that I have to make an instrument sound better, or whatever, because half of the stuff people tell me to do is impossible in the program. Honestly, I'd love to see you do better using the app.
-This is the last song I'll ever make in garage band, so it's not like I'll be able to take some of the feedback into consideration in the near future seeing as how I'll be adjusting to a new program.
-No shit this isn't what you might consider "traditional dnb." It's not Noisia, it's not Spor and it sure as hell isn't Pendulum. It's me. So stop telling me to sound like other people, or that I do. Sure, I have influences, but I don't try to paint myself as those people, and you shouldn't compare me to them. It just isn't fair.
-I sampled the retro transformers transformation sound in this one to echo the robot theme. I'm not sure if that's considered legit for the comp, but it's easy enough to remove.

One more thing, I hope your speakers can handle the bass. There's quite a bit of shittily mixed sub near the beginning that I would hate for you to miss.

~end rant.

I would like to use this music on my game, can i?

Quarl responds:

go for it :p

dude!

You get 9 for an AWESOME song, and 11 for the rant lol. TEN. FIVE. END.

Quarl responds:

lol. Thanks :P

badass.

yeah, the mixing needs some work. but apart from that this is pretty tight.

i liked the slow oscillation on that reesey bass sound, along with the slight ambient touches--they are pretty cool.

the onyl thing i can ask for right now is this: i dont think the acousticy drums really fit in with this synth-heavy song--try some more glitchy, electonic drums :D the arrangement is really cool already, but that kinda throws off the vibe of the song. otherwise, GJ!

Quarl responds:

Thanks, glad you liked it. I'd love to try out glitch drums but again, kind of limited in garage band... dunno. Maybe it's just me :P

Groovy

Um, Im just gonna say its good overall. However, why are you not going to use garageband anymore? I don't see why its such a bad program? Except for the drums samples.

And I am going to tell you a way to improve an instrument! HAH. With the kickdrum, if you duplicate the midi info into a hip-hop bass, it helps fill it out more. But, like you said, you're not using Garageband anymore. But whatever, its cool as always!
Now I have to check out the Picco conest.

Great work!

Quarl responds:

Thanks man. If I really wanted, I could have used garage bands preset hip hop drum kit. It has a nice sub sound attached to the kick, but I really didn't feel like adding any more bass to the intro. Also, I'm not using garage band anymore because I've upgraded to reason.

ill as hell

this kinda has a hip hop feel to it, atleast to me, I love it.

I like the first section the most, with that little blip and the upbeat dream, and the reecey things whatever they are. someone could lay some ill rhymes over the intro.

when it gets frantic it sounds really cool, and the entire mix is really mixed well. I love the drums, the hi hat bits, and when you put certain sections in a phaser. Hell when you keep it variated by adding those crash cymbals and tom rolls it sounds real sick too. The synths are real sweet too, very cool DnBish melodies. I like that echoing arp too.

anyways, real cool track, no real criticism, you used GB to its fullest!

Quarl responds:

Thanks! Probably the kindest review i've ever received :P
