Probably talking to myself but...

I've been noticing a lot of depressive existentialism amongst musical artists lately. The feelings are very common, normal, and can span many disciplines or lifestyles outside of art or music. Sometimes we'll ask ourselves what it is we're really doing, who we are as people, what's the point of it all, when are the right people going to notice us, how are we going to survive, does our work matter...

As creatives, we should encourage each other to use our feelings to inspire our work but certain feelings can begin to grate and wear us down. I try to stay in a positive mood as much as possible these days to encourage a healthier life and stronger work. The lows have gotten lower than I had ever expected them to and as a result I've been pumping out some of my best work in recent years. I get inspiration by focusing attention onto my real life and avoiding the computer as often as possible; sometimes completely. I got a lot of great stuff happening in real life right now so it's easy to get lost in it. The music will just happen when it happens.

In regards to my work never really getting off the ground and taking off, it's my own fault that I don't try to get out and DJ events, promote material, and send stuff off to labels. It's my own fault that I don't really care about any of that. At a very young age I decided to grow up and make things without selling out or changing who I am. I also decided that the only thing I was good at was being creative but I found out much later how many things I could be good at. I'm probably talking to myself but if you're out there and feeling the big sads, remind yourself of what your original motivator for making things was. You were a kid and you had feelings. You did the art because you enjoyed it or you escaped into it. If you're not enjoying it anymore take some time to find yourselves <3

...somewhat contrary in regards to what was just said about not wanting to "sell out," I have to push my latest addition to Bandcamp the $pare ¢hange EP. It still doesn't have any buyers but like I said, not really important. I'm not doing this for money, I'm doing it for the good feels. I'm doing it because if I stop making things I'll start getting sad. You can name your own price or spend that money on yourselves, just live good lives and find healthy ways to release lots of endorphins <3

Awesome work, as usual.
I love me a bit of Drill 'n' Bass.
The half-tempo breakdowns are ace and the atonal modulated mid-bass works perfectly.
Hearing Geordie LaForge's voice saying things that didn't involve re-routing the plasma conduits in Jeffries tube 19C to the warp core, was awesome ;)

Quarl responds:

Thanks Qshunt, been having trouble with dnb lately. Seeing your feedback makes me want to get back on the dnb horse.

Nice bro!!!

Every time the guy paused after saying "you'll probably end up going..." my immediate thought was always "insane". It just doesn't ADD up!

Some nice liner notes on this one; always something important to remember in any sort of creative endeavor. You've gotta do it for yourself first; your people will eventually find you if you keep at it for long enough.

Quarl responds:

I was coy to post the sample source this time. Reading Rainbow, Levar Burton <3

Not exactly the most ethical sample source but if you don't tell anyone, I won't either.

reject big sad embrace big happy

Quarl responds:

For real <3
