Reviews for "[Undertale Original] Timeline"

Is cool, great hybrid

The clarity and snappiness of your drums is very nice. However, in favor of these you missed out on what makes dubstep great, which is face meltingly nutty sounding bass modulation.

To be frank, the bass sounds are boring. That's about the long and short of it- the production on the rest of the song is great, but the parts that really matter are subpar. That's not to say that they need to be changed, a lot of it is quite usable. However, they have no impact. They do nothing to fill much space, both volume and frequency wise. In this case I'd recommend to put some distortion on them and play with that, however that's not always the solution.

A song I might point to in an attempt to show you what I mean would be Phone Tap by Space Laces (who is actually an ex-Newgrounder himself!) https://soundcloud.com/space-laces/phone-tap-1 There's no crazy obvious reverb, delay, or other effects on his sound, just very creative sound design.

There are a lot of good ideas and some good execution in here, but there's a lot that can be worked on.

could have been executed much better, but the clarity and the mastering is exquisite. Maybe I could have seen some metallic hypersquares or perhaps a significant buff to the low end in those segments that I'll assume were drops. I would have also worked in some more prominent build-ups before each drop, as well as some more transparent tempo changes.

Now, the one real thing that offed me in this was the ending. I would have either ended on a cliff note, or I would have added an additional section that would be a callback to the beginning. Alternatively, you could have extended the existing section by another 8 bars or so, and simply faded it out. That would have added an extra layer of interest for many listeners, and it would sound more professional/more complete.

Shit, the ending wasn't rendering in this audio file apparently aa-

But anyway, thanks for the feedback, I'm actually working on a VIP to this track so I will definitely see what I can do to improve it. I think for this song I was really going for something like Getter - Colorblind. It is quite old though, so my mixing wasn't as great.
