Reviews for "Hen in the Foxhouse 2.1"

Holy shit dude. This is a modern day Alien Hominid. If there was one thing I could suggest, perhaps the chicken could gain upgrades or perhaps nerf some of the attack patterns? Some of them just seem to fly at ya out of nowhere. But aside from that, the pixel art and animations were absolutely gorgeous.
Edit: It also seems like Society and Economics are essentially just the same thing but for different parts of fox city? Maybe add a little something to differentiate the two a bit more

VerilyFine responds:

I appreciate the compliments! It does seem to be that some of the random spawns people are getting late game have too many guns, which I'll try to adjust in an update.

Sometimes the foxes do this really fun thing where they all simultaneously spawn in a perfect line and shower you with an undodgeable array of shotgun and rifles. The game is basically hold mouse button at things until they break. I mean its ok, fun for a minute until you realize to win you have to mindlessly break every object in sight and crawl forwards as to not accidentally spawn more than a couple shotgunners. Also the music hurts my ears

VerilyFine responds:

That's too bad that you didn't seem to enjoy it. I understand your gripes, and thanks for the feedback, but I do think some of them are exaggerated.

If a lot of foxes appear on screen and start aiming at once, it's best to keep your movement controlled and bait them to attacking one of the sides by sticking to them as you progress. People have said there are too many guns ATM so I will be changing that.

I set a low bar on the necessary tasks to win so that people of many skill levels would still be able to enjoy beating it, it just takes longer. But if people enjoy the combat challenge, they are free to walk forward and spawn as much as they desire, and complete it faster.

I don't believe it is mindlessly breaking objects because of the egg laying mechanic. To maximize DPS you focus on easier targets that you can hit while staying still and laying eggs. This combines with the combat which requires movement, yet to maximize DPS, you must take the risk of laying eggs when you can, and choose when the best time to take that risk is. I'm not going to argue it isn't a simple game, it is, and I chose to keep it simple, but it is more than point and click.

I'll put music volume controls on my to do list.

This is a really good game ( but it took 34 time for the boss fox lol)

VerilyFine responds:

Wow, that's more than I anticipated, great job on sticking it out!

I finished the entire game, and it was great, keep up the good work!

Edit: Try adding an option where you can skip the intro.

Second edit: Okay, thanks for telling me. I know how to skip the intro.

VerilyFine responds:

It says before the intro that you can go to the menu by pressing Escape. I though people would understand that was skipping but I'll make it more clear.

I certainly wasn't expecting the plot to be this compelling! Great game. :D
