Reviews for "Tooth Toss"

I love this game. the pixel art makes me feel like I'm playing one of those old kirby games. It would be sick if you could add save slots so you can choose between different weapons.

great game but the final boss bug-ged me!

I love this game! I love how everything looks and the style of pixel art is amazing.

How you can make more games like this in the future! Aswell it would be nice if there was more levels!

While a simple and decent Ludum Dare game, I feel like you accidentally made a way way cooler mechanic than you meant to. The fact that the sword can be caught during the first jump, still allowing you to double jump and also allowing you to throw it mid air created this moment of great game feel where you would traverse the stage by throwing the sword a little, jumping to catch it mid-arc, jumping with it and throwing it right before you hit the ground to keep your momentum going. I admit I didn't realize this was unintentional at first, leading to moments where I was overthinking bosses (i.e. "I need to jump on the pillbug and then catch my sword and fall on it with the blade while it's belly is exposed"), but the fact remains that the feel of working platforming and blade management together felt way better than the simplistic turret gameplay of aiming and shooting your sword from a standing position.

Besides that, the game is simple in graphics, sound and has a ton of annoying softlock issues(especially because half were my fault for jump-catching the sword and throwing it into ceilings) but that's standard in a Ludum Dare 48, so it was overall enjoyable for development time put into it.

But seriously, workshop this. It has potential.

Insanely good and difficult game, I enjoy games with weird mechanics, as it provides a new challenge for my brain, when going for the 'double kill' achievement, I managed to get a quadruple kill, which made it so much better, I then completed the rest of the game without a single death, granting me the last achievement I wanted. I only played through this twice, once for the other 2 achievements and now for the last 2 achievements. The only problem is that I wish it was longer, a full game with this mechanic would be amazing.

MadNukin responds:

The idea with the achievements was to prolong the experience, but I still agree this could have been a solid chunk of a game.
Glad you liked it enough to get the difficult achievements.
