Reviews for "Bauble Buster"

1. Is your game re-checking medals? Because for some levels they failed to unlock for me.
2. As for your answer to SOLjack-arts: it isn't an anti-cheat system, it is your game disconnecting from NG, which can be solved by adding a code that would force the game to connect to Newgrounds before posting a score/unlocking a medal.
3. The game should allow the player to play further even if I reached the level's minimum score, but I still got gnomes left.
4. The speed of the paddle is too slow.
5. When the "ball" comes out of a bow tie placed in the lowest row you are almost 100% finished, there is no way to bounce it back up.

Omael responds:

Thanks for playing and for your patience with medal stuff, Herbie,
The medals wheren't unlocking because i was unlocking them for the first time while you where playing and was having a hard time getting to those 100% ;-)
There's now an option to stay on the same level as long as you want.
i've spoken with Jack and he told me that he left the game open for a couple of days so the disconection was expected after the session expired, i'll look into that.
You may throw an additional gnome as long as there are gnomes falling. But i think your way may work better.
I'm adding 20% more speed to the paddle right now.
The bow ties are supposed to be hindering traps to play around.

The medals don't work like they should. I started the game and received the level 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 medals before I even tried the second level.

I wouldn't mind the 100% if I could simply replay the level -- it seems there is no option for that. :(

It would improve my rating if there was an easy way to redo the level

Omael responds:

Actually you only need 97%, that's one bauble left on the tree to unlock the 100% from each medal.

I'll add another way to replay the level if that improves your rating ;-)

I love being at the top of a leaderboard but at the risk of losing that top spot I'll go ahead and tell you, so you wont run into that problem in future games, that at the end of a level you can just hold c which will increase your points for some reason.

btw heads up to other players 15 is crazy hard to medal, its possible if you hit candy canes or ribbons and let them stop spinning before you launch another elf, do not launch them all at the same time and if you clear out all of the canes and ribbons by your last elf you'll have a chance to clear out the rest of the ornaments.

I like the game and it's concept, it is rather fun and I think it has potential, but it has some glaring issues that really dampened my enjoyment. I'll go over pros and cons

Pros:

Good presentation (I love the christmas tree and little elves!)
Good sound design
Just fun to play, it is satisfying.

Cons:

The lag becomes immense and makes the game nearly unplayable in later stages, a bottle rocket always guarantees a lag spike and I've had to replay levels more than I should have

Little to no indication of where the airplane elf and ground elves are, it can make things really difficult, I'd suggest adding a little moving icon or a magnifying glass thing of sorts

There isn't a way to gain height, this really becomes an issue when I have a bulb that is just slightly out of reach, when the spinners are low to the ground, I am stuck with an elf that can't go high enough to hit the last couple that I need, making me do it all over again.

The area of effect for the sound of completing a level are too high, leading to me hitting an elf right near the ground and getting the victory or loss jingle even though I did not finish the level.

I'm able to hit X constantly at the title screen, making several elves in airplanes needing to spawn before mine shows up, I know this isn't an issue if you simple do not do it, but I feel people will find themselves spamming the button regardless.

Hitting confirm during the victory jingle activates the begin level jingle which makes them play at the same time. It gets rather annoying, I suggest programming it so that the game stops the victory jingle after you press continue and then it plays the beginning level music.

Overall, with some polishing this has a good bit of potential. Cheers and Happy Holidays!

Omael responds:

Hi Lochy, those are good pointer and i will try to execute them. Thanks for playing.

I've addressed all of the problems you had and fixed them as i saw fit, although i've reduced the lag i couldn't eliminate it completely.

Let me know if you find it more enjoyable.
