Reviews for "Ex4ce Beginnings"

Great stuff, takes a bit too long to upgrade, after a few runs I got my fill. But the art is great and sound effects are spot on. -1/2 star for slight issue with the mouse when I tried to move to aggressively, I wound up in a dead zone at time and it cost me my life many times. Great work man.

Pretty fun. Kept moving the mouse out of bounds and losing control of the ship. Final boss difficulty felt fine.

Solid game man! These are my friendly suggestions:
The ability to unlock new ships possibly with various stat differences or benefits
Bigger screen/fullscreen cuz its a bummer when your mouse comes off the screen D:
A more eye catching visual to show that your ships been hit, I play on mute to hear my music and its very difficult to tell if I've been hit, found myself constantly glancing at the health bar to see (which wasnt a huge deal) More enemy variety and variability would be nice, and a more diverse color palette (little too much green and pink for me) Maybe you could make the option to play specific missions/levels or just play a survival type mode. Autofire toggle,
Aaaand I wouldnt mind the option to use spacebar or another key for the laser :3
Keep up the good work brutha, I look forward to your future stuff!

The ideas outlined by you, were more or less part of the whole plan at some stage in development. 80% through, realizing most of them aren't feasible anymore due to development costs (time and already personal investments), kinda bummered me down into a nasty depression, finding the music for a cheap prise was a huge boost in morale! Although Phaser 3 is a fast prototyping code based engine the project got to the point where I just couldn't see the light with so many features anymore, even if I used higher level scripting using typescript. Pure HTML5 javascript would have been a complete nightmare for the size and a guy running a solo Rambo mission. I am fully aware there are few of us who would like to see more of my (free) work in the future, but the support so far ain't happening... at all. So I'm forced to either look for something sustenable, or charge something like 1$ and lose ratings as a result, for my work. The problem seem to stem from the decline of flash in the past recent years too... people think that if flash is gone web games are gone... couldn't be further from the truth. Many, more powerfull game engines are avalable and they can html5 just fine, it might be harder to optimize for the mobile side because of restrictions and poor performance on earlier phones models. But the heart of the web that flash targetted is def not dead!
Hopefully Defold will make things easier and much more fun to work with! :) Their memory management is by far the beast in the 2d app dev and kind enough framework with same day response from the community. I really like Defold thus far, I should consider making a desktop version only of Ex4ce (reloaded) << because I also love the Matrix seeries LUL. With desktop implying a lot more more stuff in.

Hmm, I'm in two minds about this game.

On one hand, the actual gameplay is really cool with excellent effects, graphics and exciting gameplay. Love to fly around blowing the heck out of stuff and dodging all of the interesting bullet patterns, and its fun to get more and more upgraded. It's just so juicy and explosive! It is a bit annoying to deal with the controls, however, where your mouse can easily leave the screen and cause you to lose control: would really prefer you lock the mouse into the game screen.

On the other hand, the menus and text outside of the gameplay are painfully static and boring in comparison. The text is difficult to read with its odd font and bright highlights on a bright background, and I don't know how to interpret that word dump in the beginning. The ending screen for a level is really dull with just text that isn't stylized in any way to help the results be more readable. The menus and buttons aren't animated in any way, and upgrading is an annoying process where, instead of just clicking on the segment of the bar and seeing it light up, you have to click on the bar, go to another pop-up to confirm the upgrade, and then go back (repeat over and over for multiple upgrades to the same power), and there's no exciting sound or light-up to make you feel like you've gotten more powerful. Would love to see the balance restored between menus and gameplay: both should be exciting to make the experience equally great!

It is a reallyinteresting concept, though i felt like my ship was over ice, and i think the screen is too narrow, there is no much space to scape from all the bullets, the music and visual design are spot on, it realy looks good.
keep up the good work
