Reviews for "Submarine"

It's not bad. I solved it, but I had to brute force part of the safe, as I only found clues to the second and third symbols. Anyway, you might get criticized for the hand-drawn art, but it's fine as it is, and the distant submarine effect in the background is fitting, just eerie enough. It's nice that some of the environment is interactive, but some of it will probably become a red herring for certain players. Lastly, I usually don't usually like escape games with time limits, but I guess we have enough time to do everything, although fiddling with the last puzzle take a while.

Worth noting that we can hold down the left mouse button to speed up the opening text.

MINOR SPOILERS:

There is a very pixelly spot on the painting, and I almost missed it completely. Make sure we don't have to click all over the place just to find the right spot.

The word puzzle is very clever, and I appreciate what you did, but the clue is a bit confused. It took me a while to figure what to do with multiple instance of a letter, especially since "A" appears more than once in Master K. Dylan, but the others letters do not. It took some time to find the exact formula.

Solid work for an early game. I'm curious to see what you do next.

i liked the game but the word puzzle is a bit too difficult, it took me 3 trys to get it. overall, pretty good!

Spoiler/Hint: is you´re stuck in the last puzzle, what you gotta do is remove the letters of the name at the bottom of the scroll to the paragraph at the top, the word is 5 letters long and is the name of an animal.

sorry is my words don´t make much sence, english isn´t my first language

I liked this game. It's short, but a decent challenge. I do agree with all of Illusion-XIII's criticisms:

- I learned from another comment that holding down the left-mouse button on the intro text speeds it up, which is nice, but I think there should be an in-game indicator of this feature.

- Interacting with the painting was confusing. In hindsight, I understand your reasoning behind which areas of the painting are clickable, but an in-game indicator that the player should examine the painting more closely would be helpful. Maybe something like, "Something's up with this painting..."?

- I guess the rock was a red herring, which is fine in a point-and-click game, but since this game has a strict time limit, I feel that there shouldn't be any. Red herrings waste time that the player could be using to beat the game. Fortunately, the game isn't very long, but being forced to restart in a longer game because you wasted time on a red herring can be frustrating.

- The safe code puzzle was a nice touch, but finding all the clues for the code was difficult. Personally, I found clues for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th symbol, and brute forced the 1st.

- It's not a big deal, but an explanation for why we needed a glove to retrieve the item in the pottery jug would have been nice.

On to what I liked:

- The art is great! It has a distinctive style, and I'd love to play a longer game in the same style.

- I'm not usually a fan of point-and-click games with a time limit, but the time limit in this game (on the easiest setting) is quite generous, and even if it runs out, the game is short enough that you can easily get back to where you were in your previous attempt.

- The word puzzle on the scroll was creative.

- Multiple difficulty settings added a bit of replay value.

You definitely have potential. Keep up the good work!

I quite liked this room escape game. Nice job with the puzzles. Thank you!

Couldn't select the flashlight for some reason. Getting too frustrated.
