Reviews for "Interstate Drifter 1999"
While I enjoyed this game plenty, I have a few criticisms:
- The game over screen should bring you back to the start of the level. I found it boring to do the first level over and over again when it offered no challenge, and I was really just itching to get back to the hardest level.
- The game over mechanic isn't explained clearly. I know this is trying to be simple and to the point like arcade games, I spent my first few times thinking it was related to dying too many times. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I'm sure I can't be the only stupid one. The mechanics and powerups in general could be better explained in my opinion. The grip power up made me lose my first time running into it, which is frustrating in combination with the aforementioned game over system.
A suggestion that isn't really criticism but an addition I would make:
- I would rather have the coins refill some energy then the electric container things refill all of them. It would make energy a thing you constantly had to manage and would make the incentive to collect coins much stronger. If they do refill energy, it's such a small amount that it never affected my game at all.
Other than that it looks good, while looking relatively faithful, drifting felt fun, and honking alone gave you a star. Good job

The game over thing is something I hear a lot, powerups aren't explained at all, coins for energy is a nice idea! Thankyou for the review, will take it to the next version! (itch/steam)
Love the voice and music
this game is really fun, the mechanics are nice, great art, good design but i must admit, the "out of bounds feature" is pretty annoying, especially in the rival levels
