The pacing, the ideas on shot composition, and the sound design are great, maybe perfect. That said, the art style betrays all of that. Smooth curves, not enough jagged edges, soft colors like greenish blue and light purple, a lot of stuff like that. If those sound like nitpicks, keep in mind the most essential ingredient of horror is tone, and basic stuff like this being consistently off ruins tone.

It just makes me want to look at something more effective at being scary.

OP, your art style is great and the production here was really polished and professional looking, maybe horror just isn't your genre. I bet you do/would do really great light hearted cartoons.

My response is, you don’t know what works till you try it. It’s easy to create something scary when you use harsh reds and sketchy lines but loads of people use it. Try something different and if it doesn’t work try something different again. Keep trying till you find something new :)
