Reviews for "Cyberspace Pirates"

Rad man, this animation got some groovieness to it, i can go in detail on how this animation kicks ass man. But im hypnotise on how cool the aesthetics visualize my attention, turn this into a action pack series man!

FunPix responds:

Thanks, that's the plan!

love the use of both 2d and 3d in this, the style nailed it perfectly. look forward to this being an actual series

Best of luck to your kickstarter, guys. This has a great feel to it.

excellent and very entertaining

This was a great piece of work overall, really enjoyed the theme and style of the animation. I liked the music and the blend of 2D with 3D really worked well here.

However, I think with anything there are perhaps things that you could work on/consider if you're making a series of this. I felt that the interactions between the characters felt a little stiff, the voice acting wasn't bad, but didn't feel as if they were in the same room if that makes sense?

Also I think the scene at 1:30-2:00 felt a bit flat and empty. There was no ambient or mood music, which to me felt like it took you out of the immersion of the story you're trying to tell here. I was expecting some sort of music build up when the cyber officer was coming down the stairs before the guy hits the boom box. It just feels a bit empty. You could have also given some of her companions some dialogue(or audio interaction of some kind); like the guy that throws her the hat. It all just seems a bit stiff to me and doesn't give the other characters any personality, which I think is key when introducing characters for the first time. But that's really my only main criticism on this.

I can tell a lot of passion was put into this project, it just needs a bit more polish to make this a masterpiece. I look forward to what you bring out next :-)

FunPix responds:

wow, I completely agree... I might have mentioned it in another comment but I personally was unhappy, with the development and interactions of the other pirates. The original plan was a film just over 6-min but had to compromise on character development and run time due to time limitations.

I do have a script for an 11-min episode, which I have a Kickstarter right now to help fund its production. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/funpix/cyberspace-pirates

also thanks for the honest critique, glad to see it here on NG. We need this stuff to grow.
