Gamer pro tip: Save your missiles for the boss, use all of them on it and then use a couple of normal shots. You should be able to beat the boss then.

This is an interesting premise and a good design. The sprites and animation are excellent.
The beginning of the game is a bit too easy (I literally got to the boss fight just by holding the main fire button and moving between the top and bottom of the screen almost constantly. Maybe make fewer enemies but a bit tougher so they have to be focused on). The boss fight is probably fine, but not with the life system in use here. I'd recommend a health bar, a slightly easier escape system, and being grabbed by the enemy to not be an automatic lose if you can't get out. Like if you get grabbed and can't get out it takes a decent chunk of health but doesn't insta kill you.
