Reviews for "Elvis & Dimmi"

great animation
such a shame those two where such a dick,s

The animation style itself looks so cool, but what's being animated just looks so wrong to me.

But then again, it's got Alex Hirsch in a couple cameos, so it isn't all THAT bad.

Plus, the intro was so amazing and funny, especially the dissolve effect. I'd say I'm quite the fan of those kinds of transitions, where it seems like (or actually is) one trying to work around the limitations of a console.

My last two sentences were praising a dissolve effect. But either way, it's very hilarious (even when I feel ashamed for laughing at it), especially the beginning with the dice. The apparent usage of the same voice clip twice in that joke just made it that much funnier.

Four stars; one star off due to the "feels so wrong in so many ways" aspect of the main characters.

I should probably give credit where credit is due. The pixel animation is really good. Not great, the characters lack a lot of definition, but the backgrounds are really good.

The issue, however, is with the writing. Where was the payoff? People watch stuff like this to watch the bad guys suffer for their actions, not take out their anger on some kid that didn't do anything wrong. Especially if he gets killed at the end anyways. Why write a story like this? Why NOT end with the two asshole protagonists getting their shit pushed in and getting their just desserts? The worst that happened is they had two people they don't like anyways laugh at them and walk away, something that probably would've happened if they WEREN'T assholes. People don't like to see assholes win. Bad guys, yeah, if they're charismatic or likable enough. Not two assholes.

The characters are unlikable as fuck but who cares when there is so much effort put into the animation and setting designs.

The intro sequence alone is enough to score this a 5 for me, not to mention the amazing production quality. I have to agree with zed617 though (page 4 of the reviews here) that the writing and comedy could use some improvement.
