Reviews for "Megaman - ProjectX(demo)"

??,,

The game was verry nice, but you should've made it faster, otherwise, u got a 10 :).
But after all: NICE JOB :), and succes with other projects...

This is sucking

why does it go that slow!!! and its ugly as hell...

Feels flat

Ug, the clucky, slow unresponsive controls annoyed me to no end, X clinged onto walls that don't exist, and he falls through platforms for no reason.

I'm sorry, but I find it hard to enjoy this game.

Decent but lacking

I'll give you credit as far as making it look like Megaman, and the game could have been fun except for the following things (most of which I think have been addressed before):

1. The game was too laggy. I've played other Megaman games on Newgrounds that were more in delph and they moved much faster.

2. The controls seemed glitchy and non-responsive at times. Even after customizing the controls to my liking I still felt like I was struggling with the blue bomber to get him to do what I wanted him to do.

3. Bass was unfairly much faster than Megaman. Your two choices with him seem to be "avoid enemy fire" or "attack him and take damage at the same time." The game also froze after I died each time. Very disappointing.

4. The level seemed like a "jump fest" and I hate games like that. I know that Megaman games have a history of being platform jumping games, but this one seemed to be all about jumps (obviously, I made it to Bass, so it wasn't too hard, just... boring).

Overall, it's pretty good for your first flash game, and you obviously tried, but it does need SERIOUS work (I believe you stated making another version so I'll check around for it).

Andrew-Traviss responds:

Thanks for the in-depth review. I wish more negative feedback was this well composed.

Let me be frank. The code was an atrocious mess. I'd never written physics or collision code before. It works though, and is fine if your computer can handle it. The freezing on death glitch was introduced by newer Flash players. It works fine with the Flash 6 player. Unfortunately the source code for the game is long gone and I cannot fix the issue.

The control issues you mention are entirely because of the lag. It's pretty much impossible to have smooth controls with a choppy framerate.

It is possible to beat Bass without taking a single point of damage.

The level design needed work, yes. See next game. Unfortunately, Megaman requires alot of jumps, it's the backbone of the gameplay. Otherwise you're just running and shooting.

I'm glad somebody finds this as easy as I do. If you look back I get a lot of complaints about it being too hard.

The next game is under the "other games by this user" thing.

Good first try?

Make a new one and smooth out the gamplay a bit and ill love it.
Also checkpoints, its Your mega man not a direct port. You can make him better!
