Reviews for "Monster Ambassador: v0.4.1"

will this make it to steam?

Cuttledile responds:

This is the original game from 2018, it's not receiving updates anymore. The sequel has an android port on the way, but may not be able to make it to steam because of their NSFW game policies:

the concept is good, still a few bugs

This game is kinda cool but way too short.

few things that annoy me:
- you cant invite the mermaid, the demon girl and the octopus lady into your camp, even if you hit "invite to camp". is this a bug?
- the fighting is somewhat of boring. maybe you could add skills and weapns to it.

Two bugs:

1. If you do the Rat Run twice, the slime queens' "friendship" scene will automatically play whenever you enter the cave.

2. After defeating five angels and talking to the Incubus, his "friendship" scene and dialogue will play at the same time, which will lock the dialogue onto the screen in a way that it can't be closed.

So much clicking for SO MUCH loading between screens, notably returning to camp and "searching" for enemies. And you're going to be doing both of these things a lot. Pics are good enough for this kind of game, enemy variety is high, and the minigame is passable.

What this game still needs:

1. A story. What the heckin' heck is the main character doing wandering around picking up jobs in monster-infested woods? You just click in, talk to two people about what THEY are doing, and you go off to mess with monsters. WHO ARE YOU? WHY ARE YOU TALKING TO MONSTERS AT ALL?

2. A more transparent level system. Just defeating monsters to the point you can bring them back to camp doesn't raise your ability any, so prepare to get trampled, or tramp back to camp two dozen times for health potions so you can go back to fight ONE monster at a time. This is a major portion of the game's problem this version.

3. Polish. This is very obviously an early start, but let me throw out some stuff that would help your game stand out in terms of effort: a less obvious music loop that doesn't cut out for three seconds of silence before starting again; the ability to fast travel back to camp or carry potions with you to reduce loading times; as you translate what a monster is saying, perhaps a sentence slowly being revealed from gibberish text; some animation for attacks or those sexy pics; a character screen so you can see what your persona looks like; a save system, and, your character having a name at all.

Cuttledile responds:

Thank you for your review! I'll try to address as much here as I can.

The story is in development, we're working into it right now. :)
Defeating monsters until you can bring them back to camp does raise your levels! There are three stat increases in-game, as well as a gained ability that reduces how much tramping back for health potions you need to do.
Music we're adding more of as time goes on, and we've had a save system in the works since day one- it's just not finished yet. ^u^
To give the character a non-static name, we'd need to add in customization that isn't really needed when most of the monsters you talk to are strangers when you're talking!
Animations are something we'd love to add, but they're so time consuming it would take most of our time-- instead of creating new monsters for a release, which so far our patrons have opted against. We're going by what people want to see most, as Melon and I only have so much time.

There was a big spike in loading times from our last release that I noticed, but our build is actually smaller; I'm not sure what the problem there is yet, especially for loading the camp.

Thanks for taking the time to review!
