Reviews for "Stick Fighter RPG"

To be fair, I'm not very disappointed when I saw this title pop up in the portal. I thought this was going to be one of those plain old Stick Figure Games that didn't have much credibility. But, then I was bewildered by this cool game. It has its ups and downs, and it has some beautiful art to it (I'm a big sucker towards art). Although, I have to admit, the heavy weapons really are unbalanced in this game. It is a good idea to preemptively strike your opponent when they're rushing towards you, but you'll be left with little stamina to recover, which means that you'll have to endure the attacks that are to come. This happens most of the time with 2-Handed Heavy Weapons, which can probably exhaust all your stamina with one swoop. The Other characters are a special case to me, for it gives a more varied way of fighting, but they lack customization, it gave me that feel of: "Why should I level them up when I can continue my progress with my starter guy?". All in all, it is a good game that deserves more credibility.

The game's name, Stick Fighter RPG kinda thought this was supposed to be an open-world type game but I digress. I like this game.

The game gives me Dark Souls PVP flashbacks. It was bittersweet, because I love one-on-one fights but at the same time hated having made a small mistake. The dashing system gives more of a Bloodborne feel as DS does rolls. The variety of helmets and weapons really make it feel more rewarding. The music in some cases, really good. The ambiance of the game does makes me feel like a wanderer, which is good.

However, there are some things that could be improved. First off, the menus. It feels all over the place and I accidentally figured out how to upgrade weapons and such, try simplifying the menus or tell what buttons to press when to upgrade materials (I want to color my sword and it wants LVL 2, after upgrading it to LVL 2, it wants LVL 3 now.). Next, is the controls. Wouldn't it be easier to just make it WASD and the arrow keys to attack (I was so surprised to see Z as something the enter key would do.). Lastly, is the difficulty. I know I mentioned Dark Souls (The Land o' Salt when it comes to PVP) but this is annoyingly hard as you(r character) can't seem to keep up with the pace of the fight (Hitboxes are one thing, but dashing through an attack and getting hit while so is frustrating.).

TL;DR, You like Dark Souls PVP and want it to be in 2D? Then play this game.

Thank you for this feedback. It's good to read stuff this thought out.

how not to make game: make a combo that lasts forever and give it to a starting enemy

The game is great! But you know what would make this more epic?

- Blood, I mean im literally sticking it to my opponent
- (If you were aiming for a normal paced fighter then ignore this suggestion). Tweaking up the frame rate can give the game a rush feeling and make the AI a little harder. I literally went 12-0 by predicting when the AI will swing, moving back a little, and then countering.

In the end these are just my personal preferences, so you don't have to do it. But I give this a 4/5.

ExtinctionGames responds:

Thank you for the kind words. That is an interesting idea, props for the suggestion.

stays white whats the problem?

ExtinctionGames responds:

It just needs a little time to load. The preloader is not working. Although if flash player needed enabling that would also make it stay white.
