Reviews for "Leap Jet Bear"

I love how the difficulty cranks up in just a few levels.
The artwork is great.

This game is amazing in all aspects. But I had 2 serious problems while playing:

1- The fact that the "Dash jump" is never explained. A lot of times throughout the game I found myself dead because I pressed up and I expected the bear to jump, but he flew instead, or vice versa. I didn't fully understand what was going on until level 20. LEVEL 20. Sure, the fact that I managed to complete the game without using that feature very much means it's not that important, but an extra tutorial message would have been nice. Something like, "Dash while in ground to gain a mid-air jump".

2- The pressure spikes. Now, pressure spikes by themselves are not a bad trap. It forces the players to have a better timing and keep moving, by not letting them standing still on the ground. The problem is, in this game, THEY ARE COMPLETELY HIDDEN. I don't know why you decided to do it this way, but this introduces an extra layer of frustration, since this trap can only be solved by trial and error, not being able to tell when a spike is going to come out of the ground and kill you.

During my playthrough, once I discovered those spikes, I had to be on permanent alert, and assume that every single block could have spikes. I was killed several times by suprise spikes that I didn't expect, so I was very paranoid. This brings me to situations where I just can't handle it. For instance, consider the gem placement of level 20. You have to jump across some collapsing platforms, and then you get to the gem platform, apparently safe. But seeing how spike traps are placed here, my first thought was: "there is no way I have to cross a keep-moving path to suddenly reach a safe point. I bet this whole platform is whole spiked." So I grab that gem, keep running, and jump to the right.
Only to die and find out that the platform was truly safe, and I was supposed to go back the way I came. If players come across such situations, it feels really unfair.

On a final note here, the achievements for beating levels without using dash and without touching the ground are pretty hard! Any tips?

MadNukin responds:

The game is far from perfect, I think that's obvious.
For the floor is lava medal, you'll need a cheat code. About the no dashing one, just find the right levels.

It is a very good game indeed. Well made and challenging as f*ck.

There are some drawbacks though.
- Music is descent but get way to intense after just two minutes or so.
- No option to just skip the music and keep sound effects.
- I don't like the floors where spikes comes up when you touch them. They would be ok if I could see it was a floor of that type, but now they add difficulty in a bad annoying way.

Good game. Nice work guys.
