Reviews for "Fear Society"

Pretty well made, I liked the music, but the thing that really bothered me was The Maniac. Just general advice for for having any human killers (and most horror antagonists in general), if they talk, it destroys most of the tension / frightening atmosphere. That goes double for a guy spouting one-liners while chasing people through the woods. There was also a great way to avoid him talking with the mask (maybe it was screwed into his jaw), so I just felt like it could have been avoided. Other than that, solid game for me.

ZeroDigitZ responds:

Thanks for the tip and the review.

You're up to no good doing this sort of thing on RPG maker. A P'n'C* adventure would be more effective.

I like that sort of thing. being an old fan of RPG Maker since the "2000" version and making a few games myself (for fun) back in the day, I would never downvote any RM game over this particular issue. On the contrary. It's a nice thing seeing RPG maker being used to more than RPGs.

Also let me congratulate you over the stories. They were new to me. Penelope is too shot. Also, thanks for the absence of jump scares.

(On a personal note: JUMP SCARES (there are very, very few exceptions to this) ARE COMPLETE TRASH and anyone that uses them to induce any fear on his/her audience needs a severe beating. They require no wits, no skill, no nothing - it's stupid, they are just added like the cheap no-brainer that they are)

(back to the review) There was (is?) a bug at the end of the 3rd story. I'll try to negate spoilers, so... If you try to revisit some parts of the mansion after a claustrophobic event, it will glitch the entire game and leave the player helpless.

Overall, it's a nice game to relax, not "scary" but still very interesting to play those little stories.

And yes: I died on the abandoned warehouse on the first story. Damn curiosity, got the best of me.

The game was quite decent but the stories were not very interesting nor scary. Aside from Tyler the other stories were not very impressive. Still it was quite fun to play in most part.

Amazing game, well the histories are not scary but it got me in suspense of wanting to know what is going to happen next and is really good, I love the bloopers <3 I just think the ending is too bad, I expected more, I suggest more gameplay at the end

Cool game, long time no playing scary story telling games, I wish I could see art from this

OMG, 90s Nickelodeon references! I think your 90s references during the Bloopers/Deleted Scenes portion of the game are impressive. First the "I'm Too Sexy," by Right Said Fred and then you brought up Parker Lewis Can't Lose (except for that one time...)...and don't think I didn't notice how Tabitha Corbin is very close to Tabitha Soren.

Talking about a Ferris Bueller knockoff that's better than what they intended for the it's series.

So back to the game.

I would have liked a title screen that allowed me to load my progress. I had to keep pressing X till I got to the screen about Save/Load game data in order for me to get back to where I left off.

The doll code in The Haunted House confused me for a moment, so I had to consult the walkthrough...and I was even more confused until I went back into the game and noticed the slight discoloration. You might want to make the difference in color a bit more obvious as it was hard to detect. Depending on where a person is playing this and their settings, they might not be able to see the clue you left in the puzzle.

Another thing about this particular puzzle is that, logically, the code doesn't make sense. Your emphasis was clearly their age at the time of death, however you have the sisters mixed up. Even if an older sister died at a young age and you outlived her, she's still your older sister. It doesn't change just because you lived to be an older age. I'm kinda disappointed in that logic.

Other than that, it's a good try. I think the most exciting story for me was The Maniac, but only because I had to enable the Dash feature to get away from the wolf, and there was the threat of dying. The other story to give that sort of thing was likely Tyler...but that was it. Penelope and The Haunted House pretty much fell short.
