This is the highest ranked submission for Ludum Dare 36 and it's not very hard to see why! I just loved every minute of this. There was always some great action going on. I played it until I beat it. You got used to the game pretty quickly. The graphics were wonderful.
I understand why everyone loves this. This should win an award! The sound effects are great. I love how you don't immediately die when you fall into the lava. That's a great touch!
...what do you mean this was only made in 72 hours...this has more gameplay than most genesis games
I voted 5 but the option menu should be accessible during gameplay not in the beginning.
Its impossible to play on my macbook pro without changing the controls because of OSX shortcuts get activated with Control and Shift key.
I unquestionably want to see this turn into a full game, with a full on exe format allowing for always smooth and stable performance not reliant on flash.
The game itself is pretty solid, reminiscing of good platforming days and kept making me think more of Rocket Knight Adventures than Contra (although traces of it can be seen as well).
You sir deserve all my five stars.
