When you leave the first room, you lose the gum. Is that suposed to happen?

Yes! I supposed it could be more clear, but Phil jams the gum and half the pencil into the sharpener and breaks it off.
I got a bug where after the hall monitor kicked me out of the screen he was in, I clicked on the hall pass in the screen where I wound up (screen before hall monitor). Triggered some dialogue where the pass was apparently handed to an invisible person and it disappeared from my inventory. Now the hall monitor won't let me past.
