Reviews for "Idle Sword"

this is freaking amazing sir.

Naaaah, you are! :)

TLDR version: I really like this game and its potential. I have some suggestions because I really like this element that the Author does extremely well :D

I have no idea if this is a genre in itself but this "micro-managing gear" thing is really appealing.
I've been idling this game more or less constantly for the past 2-3 days. My dudes are all around level 150 with one reset. Auto raid was a great addition to fix some problems this game has.
First off, bugs, glitches and likewise:
The players sometimes get stuck on corners, in narrow halls and under a wall when the other 3 ran towards the top of the map.
Loot sometimes get stuck on the map and carrying over through floors.
And finally I have too much gold. When I pick up gold I lose gold. When I sell items I lose gold. When I click to buy the outside I dont have enough gold. I cannot complete a reset.... This is pretty annoying since it's a full reset to fix it. I have about 80k gold and decreasing by around 70G per item.

I have some suggestions that I think would enhance the best of this game and remove what holds the game back from its true potential.
1. Remove the clicking component and gold. Gold is only for clicking from what I know) and clicking is either too valuable or too useless to be consistent.
2. Remove the flashing screens and the combat cam. When you hit speed around 10 you cant follow the combat and everything is flashing red. A full view of the dungeon floor but only vision around the heroes would be cool.
3. Improve the AI. Instead of the rings that gives certain combat profiles just improve the AI for that class. Make the heroes go in group and be sure to kill closest enemy first or something like that. I've seen my warrior run past 3 others to hit the furthest behind....
4. Normalize speed. From what I've seen it looks like hero level increases speed. This pretty nice since to get higher level gear you have to get higher floor level. And if you have to fight 30 floors you dont want to spend too much time fighting trash. If boots were the only speed granting item it would make more sense. Instead of slowly hitting 10 maybe give different speeds to different class but make many different boots so you can customize.
5. Auto-store highest item level of a certain type. Again if you have to fight through 30 floors you dont want to be sitting selling items every 5 floors slowing your progress even more. Perhaps you only got one better item per raid.
6. Remove some consumables like the teleport orb and floor skip. Make potions limited. Like 2 full heal, 2 half heal and one resurrect so they dont clutter your stash but still refill them as rare drop. Also keybindings would be nice.
7. Slow the game down with having bosses, storyline for getting better.
8. Items with better stats. Too easily you get some pretty awesome gear. When that happens you just farm to get better stats on it.
9. Make sure that those pesky red dragons dont permastun your warrior because there are 5 of them shooting..... :(

Now you have a DnD style game.
This is what I think you've completed very well in this game. Your mechanics are solid. Your items are clearly defined and feels unique. The heroes can easily change from one build to another by changing weapon and rings. The heroes support each other's weakness and strengths.
The game is great and has a lot of potential :D
Also I'm fairly impressed with your quick fix of the heal exploit. You rolled it out within 3 hours of the comment ;)
Thank you.

Thanks for that well thought feedback! Tomorrow night I'll release a new version fixing some of the issues; the most important change will be a system to combine items (and spend gold); hopefully I can improve the AI too. Other of your proposed changes are a bit out of scope (like bosses, sorry :( ), but yeah if the game keeps getting played I'll probably update again in the future. Fun thing: The game initially was called Dungeons & Idlers, I was thinking on DnD making it :) Cheers!

Needs some way to throw away lesser equipment duplicates automatically.

laFunk responds:

Yes! Tomorrow night an update is coming, that'll be one of the new things :)

This is probably the best idle game I've played. Much of the gear ends up being replaced too quickly, likely one gets too much money and unlocks dungeons too fast... but you've got a lot of enemy types and item variety. The boss wasn't too bad, and had me engaged to help my team overcome him.

There are interface issues with trying to support your team when mobs come, but I used the warps to get out of those situations.

laFunk responds:

Thanks mate! I'm honored ^_^

Great game, i got till the third reset till i got bored
Wish the rare weapons would show a bit more, i didnt find stuff like the unicorn shield until i almost quit

Also, i found that clicking enemies was getting tiresome and annoying fast, especially since the heros out-damage your clicks quite fast, and with a upgrade now costing 1.9M, its not like i didnt invest in it.

I would like to see some shopkeeper where i could buy those ultra rare stuff with the money the heros gather, or atleast give us something else to do with the money next to unlocking dungeons and upgrading the annoying click dmg.

laFunk responds:

The tapping is mostly used on the beggining or after resetting, it's impossible to compete with the damage the gear gives to the heroes. And I think that's ok!
Coming soon a system to use money!
