Reviews for "Proxy"

The description said that you fixed the freezed ending. It is not.

Catchy title, bland game

I really wanted to give this game a far chance, since my computer is older and my browser tends to be a bugger, but this is just not a fun game.

The sprites were enjoyable and the premise of a supernatural killer is intriguing, but that was about all I can praise it for.

The main thing that turned me away was, not the freezing glitch, although that played a major part of it, but the fast forward button. Under normal speed, the dialogue is so slow I can make and eat a sandwich while waiting for the next person to be killed, making me so bored that I press the ff button. On high speed though, it's like trying to take a lecture with that professor in college that had one too many coffees at the office and had to pick up flowers for his forgotten anniversary right after. There's no good medium for me. A simple fix would have been to incorporate click-to-progress dialogue. I'm not a speed reader but I'm not a turtle either.

Another thing for me was not having a mute feature. It may be nitpicking, but when it comes to games I need to watch for details on, I like to have the option to mute the music. And no, just muting my speakers is no excuse.

Overall, Proxy is a premise I would love to see again, but definitely in a much more polished form. The graphics are quaint, the idea of Proxy is amazing, but with a dialogue system that is either too slow or too fast, music that blares in my headphones that I cannot mute on the game itself, and the freezing my computer, this is not a game I recommend.

Not awful but not good. Obvious and too cheap of a story, this is more a video than game. The pacing is terrible was just not much of a mystery, no suspense and the dialogue was boring. I would've liked a lot more interaction from something that's advertised as a game and more control over the flow since fast forward is pretty much a skip all button. I would've also liked a more complex and deep mystery more set in reality rather than just straight up supernatural. I also feel like nothing was accomplished since only one other besides me survives. Also don't understand who the person in the title screen is, nobody in this looked like that, not even proxy looked like that. I wanted to like it since I love mystery but I didn't enjoy this in the least. Also, the games is really loud. 3/10 for effort. Good luck on your next project.

The game's idea is nice, but the killer is way too obvious; so obvious,in fact, that I killed the wrong person in my first gameplay because i thought it was a trick that certain character being proxy. Overall the game works fine and keeps you entertained. If you make it harder to find the murder and create a more deep storyline, I bet the next game would be terrific.

So, I've seen the reviews and give it a try.
The story is reaaaally cliché. I don't know the name, but there's a film exactly about the same idea.
Please have in mind that my English isn't that accurate, but I'll try to clear some things up. Beware of some spoiler at the very beginning.

Maxwell's arms was cut off... and he's OKAY!? "It's not time to feel pain"? Come on, your whole arm is taken off, without a single blood trail or something, in seconds, and the guy is like: Okay, let's investigate? Not a single bit of despair?

Also, the "thing" decides to take his arm, to test him? So the others are like puppets? It's a really cliché plot, trying to give the protagonist more importance that he deserves, while others fill a single purpose to become part of something that he need's to discover. I.M.O. the characters deserved something more depth to justify the actions and let the player like/dislike then.

As for the graphics: I know that pixel art is something hard to work on it, and even hard to make proper animations, but still presentation is a important thing in any game.

The thing that surprised me, was the poses. 3 guys have the same pose. The chaos takes place in the first murderer, and not a single jump, some kind of emoticons (like those on Ragnarok, or even Trails in the Sky), or on a single emotion is given. It's annoying seen the characters talking to each other while "looking to the screen", with no "graphical" feedback what so ever.

The introduction is 5/10. Proxy shows up, without any further explanation and be like: "I like to kill, so discover me if you want to live". To a introduction that long, I was expecting something more mysterious, and even the fact that a "voice in every corner" shows up talking straight forward like this, doesn't give anything. Like the film (that I honestly don't know the name), the reason behind all this is really poor.

Well, I hope this helps in some way. Claustrophobia, and/or "don't fu*** know what's going on" is really intense when you work right. I apologize for possible English mistakes, I'm still studying.
