Reviews for "Going Blind"

So sad!! Poor Jake :(
The music is fantastic. So simplistic, yet very emotionally-provoking as the player progresses and their world slowly grows dimmer.
I also like how, at first, I'm excited and running all over the place, but, then, I quickly began to move methodically each level, and I moved slower so I wouldn't miss anything :/
Great job, and thank you so much for sharing!

I really enjoyed this short flash game. What made it so good was not that the gameplay was anything special, but rather the sentiment behind it all. I got to see the dog wagging its tail (aka expressing excitement), and as I progress through the collecting of bones for the dog, he sadly begins to move slower and my field of view gradually got smaller and darker until it was impossible to see anymore. That whole concept made me feel sorry for the dog, and when the credits were displayed and I got to know that this was about a real life dog and that the whole game was a tribute to him, I felt like I could really empathize with the game creator. It also felt very clear that this was the point of the game - for the creator to evoke these kinds of feelings in the player. And that is something that is extremely rare in games nowadays - even if they have the most thought out story and awesome gameplay, you will most likely not go through the game (or at least finish the game) feeling anything in particular, except maybe for the little buzz of entertainment you might have gotten. The fact that you managed to make a simple game that could evoke a lot of feelings at once without making the player feel overwhelmed is, to me, the sign of an amazing artist.

Regarding the music, I think it was very fitting to the general feel/atmosphere of the game. Even though the track repeats itself a bit, I never felt like I got tired of it or wanted to turn it off while playing through the game, which is a really good thing. Good job on that! :)

I did feel like the graphics could have been improved upon, though. Maybe you could have spent a little time making the game look a bit more cohesive (the credits and the start menu could have had a better theme to them, even though simplicity was a given for a more "artsy" game like this) and polishing those bits up a little. I have read your post regarding this game on your "latest news" though, and, as I understand it, you're still somewhat of a newbie at making games. Which is fine! I would actually suggest that you read the reviews posted on all your games that you've put up, and perhaps making a sequel to this game (for example, it doesn't actually have to be this game) when you feel like you've come to a point where you've learned enough to be able to revamp the game and bring it to the next level.

That is my reasoning behind giving you 4 stars out of 5. I hope this helped!

lol, i accidently clicked the nose and i got the secret achievement

Good game. Sad thing that happened to your dog.

Short and sweet game! Heart-warming, but sad at the same time. I honestly got a bit emotional at the end! I hope Jake had a great life! Beautiful doggo <3
