I like the art and the game worked just fine for me!
If I may make suggestions forimprovement of games like these, give the players an option to pause the game by pressing escape of something like that. I really wanted to explore the home too, and tried to do so a few times. Trying to run only to be captured by who ever is chasing after us would really make the game more tence. I don't think many parents keep their kid locked up in a room from morning to nightfall.
It would be cool if we could interact with what's around us, closing doors, picking up objects like that bunny, and maybe tossing them at what ever scares the person we're controlling. It would be awesome if people responded differently depending to what we did. For example, if you shook your head, the mother would encourage you to behave, and that the step-father was a nice person who the child could trust. If you nodded, the mother could praise you.
I would just reconsider the speach of the characters. The mother's seemed a tiny bit forced. It's okay for a longer speach to be given if that makes it more natural. The average parent would take the time to tell their kid how to behave, and explain why the child is being left alone. "Step-father is here to stay forever." is a line that made me rather uncomfortable, simply because I don't think people really talk like that. Maybe try something like "Your step-father will be staying with us for a little while", or at least "Your step-father will be staying with us from now on."
That said, the game is awesome! I'd really love to see another game like this (or two, or three)! The step-father appearing right in front of the kid in the room creeped me out. I'd say that part was made really well. The artwork of the area is beautiful, I just wish we were given a chance to explore some more. A small suggestion if another game was made would be to make the mother a negative person. Fathers and step-parents frequently take that role in books, games, and movies. It would be a nice change of pace.

Thanks a lot for detailed review! Glad you liked the game. Yeah, we had tons of ideas how to explore the theme deeper, ideas about interactivity and stuff, but we had just a week to make the game for the jam, so we barely got to finish stuff that is in the game now. I know that sounds like a bad excuse, but anyway :) And yeah, dialogs aren't my strong point yet.
I think some day I'll make similar kind of game, I enjoyed making this kind of storytelling, but I don't think it'll happen soon.

You need Unity Web Player to play the game. If you already have it and the game doesn't load, than it's probably some kind of temporary issue with the site, try again after some time.
Nice. All those megabytes just to get a nice blue rectangle. Pretty.

There may be some kind of issue with Unity games on Newgrounds or something, the game didn't load for me some times after I uploaded it, have no idea why, but generally it works fine. Sorry .
Kinda weird because you cant talk u only can shake ur screen yes or nah like -_ -
