Reviews for "Earth Taken 2"

its cool not bad

SeethingSwarm responds:

Okay, sorry if it didn't really float your boat :P

Really cool series, but the glitching out is really annoying. When my character keeps jumping or walking I one direction against my will, It really bones me. The other thing I wasn't really happy with was the lack of innovation from the last Earth Taken till now. You basically added two weapons and called it a day. There were even screens straight out of the last game. There wasn't really anything new except for the boss battle with the machine, and hey. Why only one!? Why give us a laser if we NEVER use the thing? It was just sort of a waste of it's potential. In fact. Now that I think about it. This game is a fail.

SeethingSwarm responds:

The glitching you're talking about has nothing to do with the game. It can happen when flash player struggles to keep up. Make sure you have the latest version of flash player installed. Another reason for this could be your browser. Browsers can sometimes do really funny things. It can also happen if there are many tabs open in your browser or other programs open on your computer which makes things run slower. Another reason could be that your computer is a bit too slow for this game. There could be other reasons too, but it's not the game itself. I'm sorry this happened to you though :/

Sorry you didn't like the game. I worked extremely hard on it and I added a lot of new features including 3 new weapons (not 2 like you said), 2 new enemy types, radiation, black rain, improved A.I for companions, new graphics and environments etc. There is a hell of a lot of new things in the game and I'm glad most people can appreciate it. It's one thing not to like this game, but it's another thing entirely when you accuse me of not working hard. I didn't just add 2 new weapons to this game and call it a day. I worked extremely long hours for months on end to make Earth Taken 2. It's really nice that most people understand this and can appreciate the effort I put into these free games. It just really makes me sad when one person comes along and accuse me of things that aren't true.

This is the second time you made an apocalyptic game with zero women in it. This blows the entire game for me (although the way the controls are designed can be annoying too) because:
a. over half the population on earth is WOMEN, not men.
b. there's no point in trying to preserve humanity without women because it is biologically impossible, so without women your game is aimless and trivial.
c. I know a lot of people criticized the first game for its lack of women, and the fact that you made a second game without taking it in to account is insulting and shows a lack of growth on your part.

I can't tell if you're a misogynist or just ignorant, but you need to fix this.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Some people mentioned that they noticed a lack of women in the game, and very few seemed truly bothered by it. I do take note of everyone's feedback, and from all the constructive criticism I have received, adding women into the game was the very last thing on my list. Making games like this take a hell of a lot of time and effort, and unfortunately many game ideas need to get cut in order for me to make these free games for you guys. You do realise that you didn't have to pay a cent to play this game, right?

There are a lot of things that didn't make it into the game. The reality is that I'm just one guy, and I don't have all the time and money in the world. I have to worry about paying rent and buying food, and there are a lot more important gameplay elements that needed to be addressed for this sequel than adding women into the game which wouldn't affect the gameplay at all. Earth Taken is at its heart a casual action game focused on running and gunning, and even though I would have liked to add women into the game, that was one of the least important things to worry about. I am one of the few game designers who actually read every single review and try to respond to all of them. I keep all the feedback in mind and carefully choose which ones are the most important ones to address.

Believe me, I am not ignorant about this. Calling me a misogynist is quite an insult. Just so you know, I love my girlfriend very much and I know where everything goes :P ...I am also aware of the fact that in order to preserve humanity, you need women... but Earth Taken is a game dude! It's a free, causal action game focused on killing aliens and upgrading your weapons. This is not a massive RPG made by a big studio. This is a free game made by one person who spent 3 months, working every day, 16 hours per day on this game... and I give it to you guys absolutely free. It seems to me that you might be a bit ignorant about how much time and effort really goes into making these games.

I'm sorry that you think all my work deserves an insult from you and only 2 stars, and I'm also sorry that the lack of women in this game ruined the whole experience of shooting aliens :/

the replay button bugged

SeethingSwarm responds:

How did the replay button bug? I'm sorry this happened to you, but you can easily go back to the main menu and just load the appropriate chapter. The replay button should work fine and I've never heard of a glitch like this before... but even if the problem was my game, is it really fair to give me only 1.5 stars for a tiny glitch like this? Thanks.

say it with me: rpg + checkpoints and no saving= poison

SeethingSwarm responds:

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy my latest game. It's not an rpg, it's an action shooter. The game saves after every chapter. Chapters are not too long and in my opinion it gives the game a nice challenge not to be able to save every single second. Sorry this annoyed you. I notice that you did enjoy the game enough to get the final medal for completing the whole game. It just feels a little bit strange and insulting that you would play through the whole game and then give me only 1.5 stars for all my efforts. Oh well, you definitely can't please everyone. Sorry.
