I do not think voice acting is needed....
during the PS1 most rpg did not had voice acting and they were the best era of rpg in my opinion.
The battle system really it does not have to be anything complicated just make something simple. No need to be fancy. What would make it great is using your art skills to create a lot of different equipment items designs that would make the game more amazing than a complicated battle system.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give that some thought for sure. I agree that VA isn't needed, but it breathes a lot of life into games to me personally.
Might consider donating to your game. Need to know a few things first. Will it be a full team rpg of like 4 characters ranging from say melee, magic, and range to say specialty classes like a warrior or mage or wizard. Also, will each character get exp and you customize each character or do we only get to level up the main character and side character's abilities will be pre-determined. Finally, will there be an inventory system?

Yeah to basically all of that, it's going to be as classic of an rpg as I can make it. I should have some screenshots of the battle system in the next week or two!
As an avid player of RPGs I have to say this is amazing! The setting, the backstory, the cast of characters, the music, all of it gives the player the feeling that this will be an epic game. I really hope that you can continue your work on this, make a battle system, expand the story and all; I'll be looking for more on this in the future. Keep up the GREAT work, my friend.

it was a pretty good experience , i mean even if we can not judge the quality of gameplay so far the universe (graphics and music too) pleased me ,i am looking for the next step foward .
i encountered a bug just after saving the wood witch , just after saving her and being teleported in a house with the elf and the witch i went to talk to her and suddenly my character moved by herself stopped before the door , the game is stuck i can not moved or anything else but the music is still playing . hope this will help you
