Reviews for "Ascent"

Nothing new or innovative to this type of game. I saw no reason to continue playing a game that feels like I've played something very similar in a better game. Intro was way too long and did nothing to capture the gamer's attention.

So simple yet addictive.
I always love these kind of games

well done i like it :D

How did a game under review get frontpaged? It seems like a fun game, but it is confusing as to how to play it. Perhaps add some instructions and hints?

Fiddly controls, although not unnavigable. The secret is in collecting the orbs for flight (use space or W, A and D turn).

However, the game starts telling you that we are all born evil through Biblical text, including Psalm 51 -- especially because we come from women... if only religious authorities could establish a way of reproducing that got rid of that evil vagina, right? At this point you become annoyed that the orange textboxes slow your character down and mark it harder to play. Although, of course, we are learning, aren't we!!! About how God placed two human puppets in a garden without any understanding of 'good' or 'evil' (because the understanding of one requires an understanding of the other, as they are opposites that cannot exist without each other, at least within our cognitions and linguistic logic) and then got Satan (who, if you read the Book of Job -- and you should, it's awesome -- is an angel and a tester of mankind, so was there on purpose and sent by God) to tell them to eat the apple.

Which they did because they didn't understand good and evil. That was the whole point. They were told not to do X, and then told to do X, by an animal in God's garden which they would clearly not be able to understand as being contrary to God in any important way. "We're all God's creations here, right? This apple thing can't be so bad. I don't even know what 'good' means, so what can go wrong? My mind cannot conceive of it".

In short, I did not appreciate the bogus message of this game. That plus the message actually getting in the way of gameplay = no sale.
