I mean no offense, but this Thing-Thing is disappointing. Sure, it adds new stuff, but also takes away far too much at the same time. The #1 thing on my "to bitch about" list is the lack of ammo, both as a pickup and a limit to it. A close 2nd is health not regenerating; insead, you find med-kits around the various maps. Then, there's the issue with the weaponry. As far as I can tell, there is a distinct lack of a melee weapon(though given the infinite ammo, it kinda makes sense) The challenge-based gameplay is alright, but creating a time limit ruins that.
Another problem(well, more of a "gamer feeling entitled" thing, so don't feel obligated to correct it) is the weaponry itself; there's simply no VARIETY to the guns! What happened to the spear gun, the gas-bomb launcher, the grenade/landmine cannon? Even the Beretta's missing, alongside some of the best Thing-killing equipment out there!
In the end, this addition to the Thing-Thing legacy feels...odd? Kind of rushed? Almost not worth the time playing? Well, the other games all added in new guns/storylines/new mechanics. To me, the whole concept of the Arenas was/were to just SURVIVE, for as long as possible, however you could, with whatever you could. The goals killed that, making a single game/match a frenzy to kill as much as possible, while limiting the ways you could do that. The Arena is a place with no time restrictions, the only limit being your health, guns, and ammunition. This game doesn't deserve the Arena name.
