I like the atmosphere at the beginning. It has this great upbeat and soothing vibe. In fact, I think the kick and snare might’ve been a bit too heavy for this piece, at least before the drop at 1:17. However, your frequencies are generally very well-balanced. I was a pretty disappointed with how minimalistic and underwhelming it was later on, though. From 1:46 - 2:55, it loses its sense of direction a bit. You still manage to have some fill with the pads and reverb, but it fails to keep me engaged through that section. The second drop was almost exactly the same as the first, too. You really missed out on some big opportunities to make a much more memorable track. The production quality here is great, and the moodiness and atmosphere are set up wonderfully, but you need to do more with this if you want to keep my attention. You just played this very safe. There’s basically no melodic development, no quirky effects, few memorable transitions or anything. I’ve heard your work before, too, and I know you can do way better than this, man. You just took zero risks here. I’m going to give you a REALLY generous score, though, because I see potential written all over this thing. Next time (if there is a next time), I want you to forget the stars and aim for...well...whatever is beyond the stars. Keep at it, man. ;)
