Reviews for "Ghost Light Part 1"

The story was interesting and the game was easy to play. I would really l;like it if the controls were simpler. Its hard to remember to jump by pressing Z.

Comacolors responds:

Thank you kindly.

I'd thought about having up as the jump button but there's so much precise platforming that I thought it would be kind of cumbersome. Up as jump does seem like the most common control configuration though so I will look into at least giving the player the option.

Honestly I don't have nothing new to say to you, this game is AWESOME!
Since I noticed that you answer to everyone I'd like to ask you about the in-game music: I liked it very much! Can you tell me who's the author and if there's some way to download it?

Comacolors responds:

Thank you so much dude, I really appreciate it.

I composed all the music for this game so I'm stoked that you like it.

It's not available anywhere right now but I had thought about making game music available somewhere if people showed an interest. I'll definitely look into that once I've implemented a few of the suggestions I've gotten on this game and posted up the lost levels. Hopefully in the next few days.

Great game. The graphics and music work together beautifully. Both are a perfect fit for the game.

Some of the interface isn't completely intuitive. I initially thought that I gained life by killing enemies, but came to the conclusion that the skulls on the right are just to keep track of your kills. It also took a little while to figure out that the fire-breathing heads were enemies that I could kill and not just part of the wall. If you think that the game is broken, you're probably missing those heads.

The length of the game is at the very limit of its substance. There's just barely enough variety in enemies and platforming skills to make it a fun experience all the way through. It looks like this is going to be a series. I look forward to playing the sequels, but I think they'd better contain a little more variety and skill progression if they are to keep players coming back to the series. I also hope the story gets a little clearer!

Comacolors responds:

Thank you for the critique. I agree that I could have done better with conveyance. I think the minimalist color scheme is likely part of the problem, I really like how it looks but it can make things a bit confusing. I'll try to utilize color more effectively and make everything more clear in future games.

I also agree that this is pretty much every possible thing I could do with these enemies and mechanics, aside from a few things I came up with that I felt were too hard for the core game and will be releasing as lost levels. Part two will have more dynamic enemies and obstacles, but will hopefully still have the same feel.

I'll also try to keep the story elements less cryptic and hopefully clear up some of the confusion I've created.

the orther boss where rally hard to kill but i did finsih him later good game it give it 4 stars and i hope the part 2 are comnig soon :D

Comacolors responds:

Awesome thank you :D

I'm hoping to have part 2 finished before march. I want to finish it as soon as possible, especially after the incredible response I've gotten. It just depends on how busy things are at my job.

Dammit I keep thinking that I can walk through the chains. Please fix this. :) Thx

Comacolors responds:

I'm afraid making it possible to pass through all the chains would break every level, but I suppose they were an odd choice for a solid barrier. I guess I just thought they looked cool :P

I'm inclined to keep them this way for the rest of the Ghost Light games for the sake of consistency, but I don't have any plans to use chains like that in any games after. I hope it didn't mess up your experience too much.

Thank you for the input :)
