Reviews for "Happily Ever After"

For a game as simple as this, it managed to keep me attentive til the ending. The story line, which I understand would be the thing you are trying most to show, was well executed and understandable in spite of not using any actual dialogue.
The only thing that kind of bothers me is the music. With no offense to anyone, but the music sounds like there was really no effort put into the soundtrack. it sounded more like a person who learned the C Major scale and two chords, and that was the whole soundtrack. If there was a little more effort put into the music, this would've been great, especially considering the amount of time it was made in.
It felt difficult to feel sad when the music didn't give very much emotion, but otherwise, good game.

GameRespect responds:

Haha actually you're spot on. I apologize and realize that the music is pretty horrible, but it was my last resort. Thank you for the critique!

As much as I wanted to give this game a low star rating, I had to stop and think: how would I react if I were the spouse of someone who was just released from prison and wanted to come back into the lives of myself and the children but couldn't support the family? If the choices were to stay while the ex-con struggled but failed and the children slowly starved, wouldn't I make the same choice?

So while yes, this is depressing, and yes, an ex-con would probably have more psychological resilience after spending a decade locked up, the story makes sense (of a sort) and the game play, while VERY rudimentary and sometimes counter-intuitive are still sufficient to support the simple narrative.

A different way of looking at Villains in our modern world. You obviously gave it some serious though which is admirable, I kind of liked the music, the walking sound effects bugged me a bit but all in all, for creativity and originality, I think you did a great job :)

Why does kidnapper's wife loves him less every time he brings money? Do not understand.

It's a pretty good game. Perhaps some bad-ish music, probably composed by you very, very quickly, and some iffy transitions. Otherwise, though, a good first try!
