Reviews for "Tiny Evolution Adventure"

Nice graphics but poor control and settings.
The game just keeps restarting because of the difficulty, the number of lives which is 1 and there is no health point or any calculation of health.
I have never seen the fish evolves.

There is much room for improvement.

AdventureIslands responds:

Just don't swim into the eels and don't touch the jellyfishes when they are electrified.

The movement system is a bit irritating as it is difficult to control your character, and a mute/volume button for the music would be good, but not a bad game overall.

AdventureIslands responds:

Ah you can mute and unmute by pressing 0 and - and + to adjust volume. Adding that to the description now.

A short and simple game for sure. It was easy to tell that this was a nod to EVO: Search for Eden, which made it a nice homage given the game was terribly underrated. But I digress.

As mentioned, the game was simple, but perhaps to a fault. Other creatures were either food or obstacles; there were no true "enemies" per se, aside from maybe the jellyfish. Having more creatures that can both kill and be killed would add an element of challenge to it, and make the gameplay more dynamic. There's also the common video game staple of having a final boss, which would help differentiate the "clear the dinosaur stage" medal and the "beat the game" medal (which are essentially two medals for the price of one at the moment). It's just something that could help the gameplay be a bit more interesting, since overall it's the same from start to finish.

The controls were decent, but the mechanics could use some work. The bite-box is pretty darn small, to the point where I'd be right on top of something yet fail to eat it. This can be a mild annoyance when having to jump to reach something. Having to completely restart the level upon dying seemed a bit monotonous, though given the simplicity of the game this wasn't much of an issue.

And on a minor note, you might want to lock the background in the dinosaur stage. Personally, I found it very off-putting that the background would "scroll" as you jumped, as it wasn't easy on the eyes. But that's just my personal opinion.

Overall though, despite having plenty of room for improvement, it was a decent game. It's not bad, but by virtue of being incredibly simple, it's not really doing anything extraordinary either. But, with some tweaks and improvements, it could easily become something more.

AdventureIslands responds:

This is probably the best comment I've received yet, and I fully agree. The game is a bit rough around the edges, but I did the best I could in the very tight time limit of 48 hours. If I had more time I could have really improved the concept. Perhaps someday I work on a more refined, bigger sequel.

not bad but could use some work
could control a bit better, overallw as ok tho
was frustrating when i had eaten all of the creatures i needed but the exit didnt work (on 2nd level

too many lags make it frustrating
