Reviews for "Man Who Sold The World"

Interesting game, but I was't able to get that last piece of eternity which was in the water. No matter what I did it just wouldn't collect it.

You've done a fairly good job here; smooth, slick platformer with good controls. It's a pity about the story, because you clearly know how to make a good game - the retro style feel, the collision detection, the challenge, all seems well thought out.

But you seem too caught up in showing some interesting tale (which rapidly becomes quite dull) instead of focusing on the gameplay mechanics. In Flash games, gameplay is key; don't try and write a novel on a postage stamp. I rapidly lost interest and was just stuck jumping around the levels like any platformer with no enemies. The ending, when it eventually came, seemed a little limp and disappointing.

Consider making the levels more interesting. You need more variation than "City theme" "Jungle theme" and the like. You need something to make each level unique - imagine if you recreated the Cave level into the city level - there wouldn't be a huge amount of difference. More characters is good, too.

I do like your style though, and Lord knows enough people don't know how to make a good platformer these days, so kudos for that. Just make it more varied next time.

If this isn't frontpaged, then I don't know what's worng with NG.

First of all. Great platforming!

Second of all: Amazing story! The ending really makes you think of what is most important.

Third of all: I am glad someone found inspiration for a flash game in David Bowie. Old music really is the most meaningful and best music. I can only imagine the horror of someone making a game out of a Nicki Minaj album.

This is a great art game.
The controls are fluid and smooth. There seems to be a story, unfortunately not too interesting.
The atmosphere is good and the music is especially brilliant.
The little stick animations of running and swimming were pleasant to look at.
Having to play the entire Arboretum over and over again gets tiring, you could have made it shorter.
Overall, a decent game. If you had made the basic premise clear in the beginning, it would have been much better.
